Pre TT checks by TT scroot.

As you will know the regs are different for TT sidecars, and the way they are interpreted can be slightly different. There are also other bits on your bike that although within the regs it would be a good idea to take the advice of a TT scrutineer, who checks a bike each time it goes out on circuit and sees how things develop over the course of the fortnight, and can advise whether your bike might need anything doing before the TT arrives. Even within the regs TT sidecars suffer from a different stress and bits that never move can fall off on the Mountain Course.

Jo has checked with the other important people that it is OK to do so and when she is over this way next will be willing to have a look over your machine if you want. When it comes to TT sidecars she is one of the ones who really does know her stuff so having it checked beforehand could possibly save you from a bit of hassle once you get there.

We haven't sorted out which meeting Jo will be at but if you see Jo over here and have your bike, it would be a really good idea to ask her to take a look.
Once we work out our timetable we'll let you know as well. Please do, the oil containment is written in ACU terms and the TT techs read the same rules and it can be taken differently as it can with any club, there are other similar rules you might appreciate having checked and knowing you have already sorted it will make for an easier fortnight.

Just a thought.

Is there no pre TT scrutineering now? Obviosly there isnt. I can remember two riders , one foreign, one British being refused a ride because of the state of the outfits. Then they did the pre TT stuff to stop this happening. Prior to that an outfit had passed scrutineering and it fell apart on the approach to Ballacraine. You cant spend enough time preparing your bike prior for the TT, it should be as near perfect as possible.

I think the standard of preparation (and possibly of scrutineering at club meetings) improved so that they felt it wasn't needed any more. However, if anyone has a the chance to have this sort of pre-scrute scruting... go for it.

You're right Geoff, pre TT checks no longer happen. I can hardly remember the last time I did one! Must be a good 10 years ago. I agree with Helen though, the standard of preparation is so good now. It's just some of the finer interpretations that cause an issue now. It's pretty frustrating for both us and the riders to arrive at the TT and say "but it passed scrutineering at X". If we can avoid that then great :D
