Anyone from the Vintage Club have any idea what the VMCC club have planned for the Festival of 1000 Bikes in 2014

No chuffing rocket jockeys on modern bikes hopefully, why don't those w*****s grow a pair of gonads and get a race licence, then we will see how much 'talent' they REALLY have.
Hope it gets back to being able to 'exercise' the old clunkers without having to look over your shoulder for an incoming idiot.

Do you mean dates, classes, location Pat?
Phil where's this from? What happens at the festival that I don't know of (last time I was part of the festival of 1000 bikes was probably about 1988 as part of TOMCC)

Phil - presumably you are talking about the Saturday road bike sessions. The Sunday racing machine events have always supported a strong field of current and ex road racers in all classes. Certainly the sidecars.

Steve, Roly
It is certain NOT the event that it was.
There is far too much machinery entered that, even if I was on lots of powerful mind altering drugs, I could never class as post - vintage or even optomistically call classic.
It is mainly, but not exclusively, about the Saturday. Because you can attend as a 'day member' and turn up with almost any bike there is a growing trend of 'I haven't the balls for racing, so lets go burn up some others at a race track' mentality.
Because the event is at a race circuit there are plenty of idiots that think its a psuedo no-rules race meeting, with a 'take no prisoners' attitude - I've heard it and too often. Last year I had the misfortune to overhear a pair of right prats with that attitude discussing their 'tactics'. If even one of those pair had been like that at a proper race meeting when I was on circuit I would have probably have invited them round the back of the far side of the paddock, for a quick lesson in proper race manners, they are a big danger to everyone else.
Unfortunately the event has become more about the money for the club by letting anyone in and paid stars, rather than someone with an unusual or race bike exercising it in a suitable controlled environment rather than chance the road or competative events.
There are plenty of ex-racers still owning race bikes, that don't want to do competition but do want to give the bike an airing.
Ex- racers and owners of ex-race bikes are always consious of race track manners when 'making noise', the rocket jockey's are barely intelligent enough to be consious.
Fortunately the sidecaristi are far above all that nonsense, because WE are far too intelligent to ride two wheels seriously!!!! (that's not meant as a slight on your Bro' either Steve! btw).
Was that a rant?

This is the 2014 British historic dates. Would one of these be 1000 bikes?
BRITISH HISTORIC RACING CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2014
Anglesey 12/13 April
Three Sisters 10/11 May
Mallory Park 14/15 June
Lydden Hill 05/06 July
Darley Moor 26/27 July
Cadwell Park 27/28 September
From this page. Seems an odd link hope it works.

Usually happens around 12th & 13th July, so I don't think it is included on that calendar, Steve. If the event is going to happen I should be getting the entry forms anytime after Christmas, which are usually sent to us automatically.

I contacted VMCC today and was told that this event is still up in the air for 2014 owing to the change in management at Mallory but they hope to be able to confirm something early February, so watch the VMCC website, the date is sepearte to those already published, so expect regs wont be out yet!!
