Looking at sidecar design you have 16" wheels, 16" front, 10" side/rear, 10" all round, 12" front/rear.10" side, 13" f/rear 10" side, the one that interests is 12" rear 10" side/front Why?

late 60's- early 70's I don't think you could get 10" tyres wider than mini race tyres but you could get wider in 12" with a similar rolling dia. So those people who wanted to use wider tyres on the rear it was an easy fix without too much work or expense

Was the 10 inch Dunlops called "green spot"

Yes they were sold in only 1 compound at first,the 204 the same compound as the 3.5" x 16" they later made them in 484 compound which is stickier. They also made what they called a dry version of this tyre which had the same compound but was not a slick,it had a tread pattern which was several rows which looked like philips screwdriver marks,it was called CR70 the green spot with 204 & 484 is CR65

Seen a CR70 at my local Tyre dealer the other day,he reckons you can still get them from Dunlop.Hes supplying a Rally mini with them.

In the day did anyone actually use 12" rear wheels / tyres. I cant remember this. We all had 10" rears , or so I thought. We bought a new Windrick chassis in 1970 and there was no 12" options available then ?

I remember the Mac Hobson had on the first HamYam. 10" front and sidecar 12" rear.

Helmut Fath used 12" wheels on his URS in the 1960's, Dunlop developed the 400x12 tyre for him. Ted Fenwick used on of Fath's wheels in the rear of his Triumph outfit he built in 1969. I ordered the first outfit Terry Windle built using the 12" front wheel in 1973.

As you can see from the photographs, Terry did not have time to make a low fairing before the T.T.

I used a wide low profile 12"in rear 71-74

Hi Jim, that was a painful mistake, I put the gloves on the pit wall to make a last minute adjustment to the clutch, and was so eager to get on the track that I forgot to put the gloves on.
I soon realised my mistake when a stone hit my hand, and the resulting cut spread blood everywhere, ( fortunately the bike was already painted red )

I went down to the grid at Cadwell once without gloves . Ten laps round there was bad enough, never mind a lap of the TT.

I had a Windle Imp in the early seventies straight from Terry. That bike had a wide low profile 12" rear tyre. 10" Front and Chair.

I had a Windle Honda in the mid 70s with a low profile 12" on the back, a 12 x 4 on the front and a 10" mini on the side.
