Historic sidecars at Aintree

Unread post by Lady Sidecar »

Just to let everyone know, the meeting at Aintree on Saturday August 9th will also include an Historic Sidecar class. The club need a minimum of 6 entries in order to have a separate grid, so please consider entering, especially if you are based in or near the North-West. You get three races for £115, which I think is good value for money. Tony Bannister took his Triumph round amongst all the F1 and F2 outfits last year and attracted more interest and attention than the rest of the field! It would be great fun to have our own Historic grid this time.

Good idea - but there's a big classic meet at Donnington that weekend too - it's where we'll be.

Nearly!

Just need 2 more finishes - so should have lost it by the end of next weekend! Now thinking about my national liscense......

On the classic we're towards the front and with a bit more practice on the two F2's I'm on for the rest of the season then I'll get there!!

Let's hope the weather is better than this weekend!

Hello Mark,

last year we were able to get into the paddock on Friday evening, I presume it will be the same this year. The normal entry gate just after the bridge is closed, you need to drive a bit further along and take the next gate on the left. We intend to get there on Friday so that we can wrestle with erecting our new (to us) awning. See you there,

Claire

We all had a smashing time at Aintree on Saturday (see Fritz's pix) and it was great to have our own grid of seven machines. I would like to send a massive vote of thanks to Tony Bannister for getting the ball rolling last year and for getting this year organised. Thanks also to Tony and PB Mechanical Services for the three stylish prizes and to David Sykes for awarding them so idiosyncratically.

It is hoped that this will happen again next year, ideally on a date that doesn't clash with another classic meet.

Thank you very much Tony, you're "The Man"!

Claire.

Hi all, sorry to hijack an old thread but were any of you guys at Aintree last weekend (11th July 15) ?

I was there and took a few nice photo's if anybody would like them, for instance I have a great one of a blue Triumph sidecar 71 and some fast looking photo's of 40, Lady Sidecar ?

Would love you to get them :)

Hope all you guys got through the day unscathed and had a great race, myself and my Dad had a great time, brought back memories being back at Aintree :D

Hello Chris,

Yes, we were there and had a great time. Eight outfits were entered, but Gary and Gary broke down so we ended up with seven on the grid. Please post any photos that you have, Steve E can do it for you if you have difficulties. Thanks,

Thanks for reply and glad you all had a good time, here are some I took, I have about 1200 but most of them have an out of focus rear tyre or something in them lol

(Hope I have placed these files correctly here! I've never been very good with the forum stuff)
