I came across this photo on a blog about Olga Valerie Kevelos - from the blog , http://blog.needsupply.com/2013/02/24/l ... a-kevelos/
"In 1949 Olga Kevelos went on to win the first of her two gold medals, riding a 500cc Norton in the International Six-Day Trials in Wales, her second would come in 1953 in the 250cc. She would continue to ride in every Scottish Six-Day trial until she finally retired from the sport in 1970, and in every International Six-Day Trial until 1966."
However, at least one of the photos depict someone other than the subject of the blog (see pic of Beryl Swain). The photo below shows a woman in full tuck on what must be a road racing bike. But is it a photo of Olga Kevelos? Where/when was it taken? And what is the bike? There's a logo on the fuel tank. and the lettering above the engine seems to indicate a Kreidler - assume a 50cc . Any suggestions as to the "who-what-where-when"?

Could be any of Pagani, Taveri, Provini , Tarquino etc. Pre 1964 I would think. Not sure that is a woman?

Looks more like a 'sprint', than a 'road racing', bike to me

that's not a woman!
It's Aalt Toersen from Holland, who came second in the 50cc World Championship in 1969 and 1970.
And the pic is of a record attempt on the Kreidler Van Veen (Dutch Kreidler Importer), location not 100% sure. Could be in Holland where they did several runs but could easily be at Elvington where they went for record breaking.
By the way, in 2015 Aalt will be trying to bring the 50cc Land Speed Record back to Holland, attempt will take place at Bonneville.

Thanks! I was dubious of the Kevelos identification from the start as there were at least 2 photos on the same site that definitely were not of her - one was of Beryl Swain. So, Aalt Toersen it is then. I'll try to verify the ID , but for now, it looks like Toersen.

If it is a land speed attempt the greatest asset would be a fairing especially on a 50

"Sidecar Racing" - you were right on the money with your ID! I checked out the site you suggested ( http://www.groene-tulp.nl/cms/ ) and there was a photo of Aalt Toersen preparing for a record speed run on what looks to be the very same bike. From a second site ( http://www.elsberg-tuning.dk/recordbikes.html ) a few details;
"The annual sprint meeting held at the Elvington airfield, [RAF base, Yorkshire, UK] did attract 50cc racers too. In (19)68 the Van Veen brought their latest sprinter hoping to break several records.
They did! Aalt Toersen broke three records :
The standing 1/4 were done in 15,568s at 57,8mph.
Standing kilometer : 30,318s at 73,8mph.
And standing mile : 44,39s at 81mph.
