Brake Bias for Sidecar Wheel

Unread post by tekguyonroad »

How can I reduce the brake force to my chair wheel? Does anyone use a brake bias or pressure reducer to prevent the sidecar from locking up prematurely? Tried to compensate at the master cylinder bias but it's not enough. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Had a similar issue with my 2010 MRE F2. Solution suggested by several top F2 teams from the UK: install really crappy pads on the chair. Removed the fresh high end pads I had put in and popped in a pair of Veserah "Green" (as in economical I suspect) pads. No more lock up (unless I've already started turning left ;-) )

Smaller calliper possibly. I know some don't use a ap calliper on the chair so possibly that would help. Or get a fatter passenger  he he. Ta Dixie

There are a few things you can do, the easiest & quickest is to cut grooves in the pads on the sidecar wheel.

I've always used EBC FA16hh pads in the chair and never had a problem with the wheel locking up.
