I've just had the guy that took the photos in touch and posted a link on the front to the article. It's a beautiful looking thing, is it anything to do with Alain?

Not sure whose it is; the outfit next to it is an ex-Alain Michel LCR which was being ridden by Ralph Bohnhorst. This outfit was entered as a "Helsta B2B". Certainly a very rare machine; I wouldn't fancy being in charge of maintaining it!

It is a bunch of Germans who run this beautiful outfit, I have seen it 3 times at Spa.

I will dig out the names of the riders.

B2B was one of the two sidecar classes at World level in 1979,this was the class that Rolf Biland should have won,but he won B2A for conventional outfits! In 1980,it was back to one World Championship for ALL outfits, and sidecar wheel steering was banned.
Lovely piece of engineering, and a proper engine too 8-)

Hi
as far as i know, the bike was built for Rolf Steinhausen. He tried it once and did not came along with it....
So it never really raced at the old days.

The bike was built by Paul Stannik and Klaus Heller in 1979. It was raced by Rolf Steinhausen and i think Sepp Huber. Paul and Klaus still own it.
