An excellent short article on Schumi having a speedo in his Benetton

Rather than just relying on a tacho, Michael wanted a speedo (eventually 3 of them) to show him the quickest way round a circuit. So he could work out which gear would help him out of a corner better.
I've had a few drivers who could've used something like this, learning to just go through corners a gear higher so as not to upset the bike, or upshifting earlier using torque rather than the top end power to get to the next gear.
Funny that towards the end of that era it was counted as a driver aid.

Interesting reading. Who would have thought a Peugeot 205 wold have been involved in the development of a F1 car :?:
