The regulations have been completely reformatted and have a rake of changes, so rather than outline the differences from last year, download and read thoroughly the new version on the TT website.

Carburettor engines are not permitted.
That one slipped in, I'll have to have a word with Sophie see if that's right.

The old imperial measurements for frame dimensions have been dropped, all metric at last.

I should ask Pete Alton he would have a good idea if the throttle bodies will fit. We have 2 throttle bodies 2 looms and three ecu's if you want to play. I cant see the that any one would object to you doing it just dont tell them!

I've emailed and called both Sophie and Paul and as yet not had a reply from either Steve

Cheers Paul, I might take you up on the offer. Will see how it all pans out but I don't hold out a lot of hope in the rule being changed.

Thanks

John.

The words would appear to mean that any engine which is not fitted with fuel-injection as standard is not allowed?

From Sophie :

The official response is:

The changes to the Sidecar technical regulations for TT2016 have been instigated by the Race Management Team.

This includes, but is not limited to, not allowing carburetted engines in the class from 2016 onwards.

This is one of several changes made which are designed to drive progression and development of Sidecar racing at the TT and to ensure the class remains relevant as part of the TT schedule in the longer term. We believe that the Sidecar TT Races are the premier events for Sidecar racing globally and should not only be open to the highest levels of technical equipment.

Steve,

I've read that last paragraph a few times and I think the last sentence should actually read:

"We believe that the Sidecar TT Races are the premier events for Sidecar racing globally and should only be open to the highest levels of technical equipment."

But I might be totally wrong of course, what say you?

I said exactly the same thing Nick, it contradicts itself. It's probably translated from Manx ;)

Might sound a daft question, what role do the ACU play in the TT nowadays?
