I have this to go on the front but I have a feeling it's already been posted on here, just not made it to the front.
Have A Go Day
Well folks it’s that time of year again – yes British Historic Racing are putting on a “have a go day” for wannabe sidecar drivers/passengers. The event is held concurrently with BHR’s practice day and is primarily to give complete novices the opportunity to get aboard a race outfit and “have a go”. Previously the only avenue into sidecar racing was to buy a machine and maybe find racing wasn’t for them – expensive! Interested? You need to ring me David Sykes 01162876119 and persuade me that you are serious about starting racing. If you’re a joy rider wanting to put a tick against your “bucket list” don’t bother. My race colleagues and I who are supplying the bikes at their own risk/expense will not be impressed.
The event is at Mallory Park on the 18th March – be there for 8.30am, each novice either singly or as a crew will be given tuition on driving/passengering and track etiquette before being allowed on track. The bikes will all be “big wheelers” so there will be no cramming middle aged creaking limbs onto a “kneeler” . . .do I hear a sigh of relief?
What you will need: One-piece race leathers, helmet with a gold sticker, boots and gloves. The day is free but you’ll need to shell out £20 at the track for (compulsory) insurance and the owners of the bikes will be filling the tanks at their own expense so a few bob for them would not go amiss.
So what are you waiting for boys and girls? The future could hold for you some brilliant highs . . .and the occasional lows and you can look forward to finding a race licence in your pocket where money used to be!
