Sidecar Sport Day - related to DS's "ailing" post but different!

I have been involved in motorcycle sport, both sidecar and solo, since 1978 or 79 when I tried to be a grasstrack sidecar passenger - and was rubbish. I came down too early and we ran over a marshall, so that was the end of that career!

I have been actively involved with various ACU clubs and was qualified as Coach, Clerk of The Course (Trials and Enduros) etc. What I would like to attend is a Sidecar Sport Day, with sidecar road races and taxi rides, and around the road racing circuits, demonstrations and try-out opportunities for grass track, sidecarcross and enduro, and trials. Mini sidecars to have an area on the hardstanding.

Dave S will roll his eyes and despair of this ambition, as I know his dealings with the trials fraternity were not at all good!

What I would do is this:
1. Timescale: 3 to 5 years time
2. Associations for the offroad sports to take charge of the organisation of their aspect. That is the Sidecar Motocross Association, British Enduro Sidecar Association, Grass Track Sidecar Association and ? trials ? association. Each would pay 2 to 5 competitors to bring their outfits and do demonstrations and taxi rides/try outs. ACU approved coaches would be needed, and donations of protective clothing for people to hire/borrow for try-outs and taxi rides. Each competitor would need to be paid generously for their travel, overnight accommodation expenses and running costs. The Associations would also need to pay the Road Racing Organising Club to subsidise a sidecar-only or sidecar-heavy road race meeting. The Associations would have a couple of years to organise a budget for this day of Promotion of their Sport, and to get ACU qualified coaches if they don't have any.
3. Preferably this would happen in March, but could be late October.
4. You would need a road racing circuit with enough grassy areas around it for the grass track demo and display area, either a motocross circuit already built, or space to build a little one with at least one jump and also a flattish beginners area plus display area, and a trials area either natural (? woodland) or built.
5. To involve the Federation of Sidecar Clubs which is the road riding sidecar association who have camping weekends, so that they have a camping weekend, and put on a display of road sidecars.
6. To invite trade stands from any dealer, manufacturer or business interested in the sidecar market.
7. Ask all clubs in all disciplines who cater for sidecars, and for whom more sidecar competitors would be a GOOD THING, to contribute to a budget to buy advertising in bike magazines and online.
8. At the event, to run raffles, promise auctions, etc, to collect names of all who attend to keep them engaged with sidecar racing and competition.
9. Each Association to provide information pamphlets for the public to take with them.

PS May be something I could do to occupy myself when I retire!!
