Round 1 Oulton 23 April 2016 FSRA F350/Post Classic & pre-injection Sidecar Championship
Posted: Mon Apr 25, 2016 4:17 pm
Bruce Moore makes a comeback to sidecar racing after several years with his son Ashley to win race one and a second in race two. Rob Fisher with Rick Long blows up his motor in the first race quickly fits his spare to win the second. The only F350 entered sees Gordon Jones with Smudge Taylor take second and fourth places.
Ten teams entered the F350 Post classic & pre-injection Sidecar Championship and joined another twenty Wirral 100 club sidecar racers making the Oulton race grid a maximum of thirty sidecars.
The post classic part of the grid was John Potts and Neil Dutton on a 1000cc BMW twin Pat Gallagher was back on his championship winning 1100 GSX Suzuki with Mick Fairhurst his passenger and myself with Wayne Kemp on a FJ1200 Yamaha.
The preinjection machines joining Rob Fisher and Bruce Moore were Joe Heys/Marc Maier and the ladies of Marianne Walford/Kelly Hughes all on 600 Thundercats. Returning to sidecar racing after a long period was mark Burns with new novice passenger and work college Steven Winfrow with an 1100 long wheel base Suzuki. Another Father and Son team Bill and Nick Roberts 600 Jacobs Kawasaki made up the ten strong entries for the first round
I was upset that not all teams wanting to enter this meeting were able to enter; this was due to the popularity of Oulton Park and pre TT signatures and track time testing by the top teams. Such was the popularity of this meeting that Tim Reeves and the Birchall’s also had their entries returned.
.
The Wirral 100 club hosting this first round like me were not sure what the entries for our championship would be like, this was the first meeting of the second year of the new F350/Post Classic & pre-injection Sidecar Championship, four teams entered this same first round meeting last year.
More than ten teams entered this year’s first round so I feel we are going the right way. But our hosting clubs over the next five rounds have no idea what the entries will be like so I advise to get entries in as soon as possible. Some teams have entered all rounds already the other option is bonds guaranteeing clubs entries and I do not want to go down that route, so get your entries in ASAP. The closing date for Aintree is the 2nd of May.
See attachment for championship positions. Thanks to Wirral 100 club for putting on an excellent meeting at a great venue.
Next rounds are.
14 May Aintree
25/26 June Anglesey Wirral 100
9/10 July Croft Derby Phoenix
20/21 August Cadwell Derby Phoenix
11 September Mallory EMRA
