Hi have just bought this chassis reputed to be early WINDLE ignore front end as im modifying that as it came with a very narrow spoked hub and nothing else.no brake cylinders and one odd disc have lots of honda two potters from vf 1000 that i think i can mod to fit.Will try to put up some pics.
When i can figure out how think i need help on this also. TIA.

Looks like a windle/windrick to me.Very similar to my first outfit.The front forks in your pics also look like the Windle forks I have on my Norton.If you intend to race the outfit in the CRMC,OR VMCC you best not fit the Honda calipers you mention tho.

Thanks both for help ,only going to be in NHCA so wont hurt fitting honda callipers i just happen to have loads of them and wheels will turn with them but have to make new mounts. Fitting tuned vf1000 lump in so wont be eligable for circuit racing any way.

Does any one know if Windles put chassis number on or build number cant seem to find one.

They don't, however there are bikes with numbers that were used in Europe so they were tracked. This was run with an old log book for traceability. The chassis will have certain characteristics that will give you clues, where most of the very early bikes will be matched , pattern checked or similar to ones that were modified later on. If all that makes sense.

We had the second Windrick , built over the winter of 69 / 70. The one pictured looks the same as ours was.

Yes thanks can make sense of it but dont think it will help much as this is all i have but hey ho i will overcome it will probably look a lot different when finished as it looks as if it came with triumph or bsa motor but fitting vf1000r lump in. Originality doesnt really matter where i intend running it NHCA as Forgotten era outfit which is pre 89.Thats great was led to believe it was a 70 one so at least thats something i know now.

It may be an Early pre 70, I was talking to Lou Ward who raced a windrex unit and he would be able to help you . Call me I will give you his details. Triumph and BSA would be about right

As I said above , we had the second Windrick ever built over winter 69 / 70. If the bike pictured isnt a Windrick of that time , its a good copy.

Shame to modify it,after it has survived all these years relativly unmolested.

The main frame loop, swing arm, rear rubber suspension, rear hydrauilic dampers are identical to the outfit terry built for my Weslake in 1975.
I think the year before he went to 13" wheels????

And in the Classic class with the cut-off date set on 31-12-1972 most are on 13" wheels nowadays - strange isn't it?
