Can anybody out there give some advice on crash helmets .I'm always pushing mine to the back of my head so i can see where i'm going . and under braking can't see F A which probably accounts for some of my driving . there must be helmet that take into account the extreme driving position of heads down eyes up .

Sounds like you need a smaller helmet.

I've tryed Smaller ones ,but they seem worse ,as i can't get them to move back at all, .I can't tip my head back far enough to get good forward vision

Hi Dave, I have the same problem! I found Shoei are better for me but I still have to put some padding in the top of the helmet to get clear vision to see past the top of the cutout. I find the problem worse when we are going down hill when im trying to look further ahead.

Hi Paul, you need to pad out the helmet on your forehead with some sticky back foam to keep it tipped back a bit. It should be good and very snug on your cheeks too which will help stop it moving about so consider extra padding there too. Have a look at some tt photos of Greg Lambert, he used to pad his out to suit his riding position. Looked a bit comical when he was off the bike but he could see where he was going when tucked in, give him a ring.

I'm using a Shoei NXR and it's the best helmet I have used.
They have raised the top of the aperture on this helmet and it does make a big difference.
Ken is right about making sure that the cheek pads are a good fit.

Dave I hope your leg is getting better as I saw the video of the crash with you and Smudge at Cadwell. Unfortunately I cannot find it anymore, is it on you tube?

Leg is not too bad. Had a few infections which are pretty painful but antibiotics work nice.

I went to the fracture clinic yesterday, my right leg is 27mm shorter now. I've got to go back next week to see if they can extend the current fracture or if they need to break it again in a different spot.

I think I would just live with a 27mm difference. I was born with a 1cm difference (plus another 1cm due to a bad pelvic tilt). Went un-diagnosed until I was 30. Didn't affect my sidecar driving at all

My right leg seems to be about an inch shorter since last year's crash and surgery, but it doesn't appear to be giving me a lot of problems. I use a heel lift in most of my footwear. The surgery that would be needed to correct the difference is extensive (another 3 operations) and would put me out of action for at least 2 years; when you also factor in the risk of infection and the 40% chance of it not working, I think I'll live with the difference!

Arai for me all the way Paul. I used to have the same problem but have had aria for about 7 years now and they are the biz. Chaser V or quantum are spot on and not too expensive with the discount you get as ACU licence holder.

That's nowt both of mine are shorter than the other
