As well as Bertie and Bessie the Bromptons, I now have a proper road bike.
I've just been from mine to St.Albans on it, 15.5 miles in an hour but it kept threatening to rain so I stopped there and got the train back. I remember now as kids how we used to end up with a stripe up the back of the jeans and jacket with no mudguards.. I need to get some on this bike
Loads of personal bests and at least 7 minutes quicker than I've managed before, despite going almost half a mile further avoiding the dodgy cycle paths and sticking to the roads.

Well done Steve.
Can't beat a good road bike.
I treated myself to a carbon Focus with Di2 for my retirement 2 years ago.
Love it to bits!
Roll on the good weather.
62 years old and can still average over 15 mph on a 40 mile hilly North Devon ride.
Did 3500 miles on the bikes last year. Hopefully a bit more this year.
This will do me for now, £200 on gumtree and rides like a dream. I still love my Bromptons though

Lot of bike for the money Steve. Well done.
So what do you fancy when the time comes to splash out some serious cash?
My Focus came out at around £3500 including a decent wheels set.
Can't see myself ever upgrading again, as it's a far better bike than I'll ever be a rider.
I use a steel touring bike for the long holiday treks and a Wilier hybrid during the Winter.
Also got a folder to sling in the car or take on the train.
Someone once said cycling was cheap! LOL
This morning's ride. 25 miles in about hour and half.
The Bromptons ARE serious cash a decent build will be near £2k now. That's the long term project , a lightweight Brompton. For now the next bike with be a mountain bike to play on and go for rides with Deb on.
