It’s that time of year folks for all you sidecar racing wannabes to grasp that nettle and start racing! British Historic Racing- within their Mallory practice day on the 23rd of March- is offering “have a go” sessions to racing novices on race outfits. We are continuing this tradition, unique to the UK so that aspiring racers can enjoy piloting/passengering a race outfit without having to spend money buying an outfit, getting a race licence, leathers etc. only to find it’s not for them. The sidecars themselves are BEARS types which are sitters rather than kneelers so if you’re not in the “first flush of youth” you won’t have to contort limbs to unaccustomed positions!
This year there is an added bonus . . . the crew/driver voted most promising by our panel of racers will be loaned an outfit FREE for the entire 2018 BHR season BEARS series. What you need to do is call me, David Sykes on 01162876119 and persuade me that you are serious in your desire to start racing, anyone I reckon who is after a day out at BHRs expense will be turned down.
The day is FREE although there is a compulsory insurance charge of £25. Tuition is provided in the shape of experienced drivers and passengers with the race day experience replicated by crews taking bikes through scrutineering. You will need one piece leathers, boots, gloves and helmet with a gold ACU sticker, unless you can acquire these somehow you will not be going on track. This scheme has produced two champions and several crews currently racing . . . if they can take the plunge, so can you!
Have a go day
