FIM Fuel Tests – Sidecar World Championship Round
Sachsenring (GER)
Decisions of the International Jury
During the FIM Sidecar World Championship round 3 (IMN 105/04), at Sachsenring (GER) on 23-
24.06.2018, fuel samples have been taken to be tested as per FIM Sidecar World Championship
Regulations (Art.2.10.5 3. to 9.) from the following sidecars:
• No. 77 – Tim Reeves/Mark Wilkes - Carl Cox Motorsport Powered by Prof. Dr. Sallmon
• No. 44 – Pekka Päivärinta/Jussi Veräväinen – 44 Racing
• No. 16 – Ben Birchall/Tom Birchall – Birchall Racing
• No. 41 – Lukas Wyssen/Thomas Hofer - Gustoil Sidecar Racing Team
• No. 4 – Bennie Streuer/Kevin Rousseau - Team Streuer
• No. 8 - Alan Founds/Tom Christie - Brian Gray PowerBiking
• No. 34 – Sam Christie/Adam Christie - C.E.S Powerbiking
• No. 56 – Jakob Rutz/Marcel Fries – Sidecar-Racing-Team-Rutz
The fuel samples A taken from the sidecars of Pekka Päivärinta, Lukas Wyssen and Jakob Rutz
during the event have been found not to be in conformity with the FIM fuel specifications
provided for in Art.2.10.1 of the 2018 FIM Sidecar World Championship Regulations, regarding
the physical properties for unleaded fuel. These results were confirmed by the test conducted
on fuel samples B.
According to the willing of the three aforementioned riders not to have sample C tested, on the
basis of the results of samples A & B (Art.2.10.5.12), the International Jury took the decision to
disqualify Messrs Pekka Päivärinta, Lukas Wyssen and Jakob Rutz and their passengers from the
entire event (i.e. IMN 105/04) in accordance with Art.2.10.5.11 of the 2018 FIM Sidecar World
Championship Regulations.
No appeal against the decisions of the International Jury has been lodged before the
International Disciplinary Court (CDI) within the set deadline. As a consequence, the decisions of
the International Jury are final.

I saw that in the results yesterday steve. At the very least they should be stripped of any points & prize money they have had up to now & banned for the rest of the season.
They admitted their guilt by not having sample C tested.
Bottom line is that they are cheats & thieves, stealing points & prize money from their fellow competitors.

It's a pity that The International Jury don't say what the additive was in the fuel?

From what we can understand, the additive in the fuel wasn't illegal. It was basically the amounts which hadn't been calculated correctly which made the oxygen content in the fuel too high for the rules.

So maybe a miscalculation in fuel additive (easy done) on behalf of the teams and knowing that, did not have further samples tested,I should wait for further statements before you hang people for which could be a simple mistake? I think thats a fair statement

Sorry if I "jumped the gun".
I've had a bad experience with some people who were known to be cheating in the past & that expereience wasn't nice.
