? ? HARLEY DAVIDSON CLASSIC SIDECAR ? ?

Unread post by sidecar 151 »

Can anyone let me know if a Harley enginne has been used in a sidecar road race outfit...
I have asked the eligibility man (Richard Holmes) at the Classic Club and he is looking into it..

Basically I have a Harley 750cc smashed and very much vandalised bike that I wondered about making into an 18/19" wheel sitter ????? Manx tank ... G50 seat ... that sort of thing :?: :?: :?

I dont for one minute think it would be competetive but it would make good use of a redundant slaughtered bike??? And I am sure would turn some heads and get some
Any help would be great...
If I can prove a Harley "Sportster" type unit construction engine was used then it will be ok to use..
Make a great sound out there on open mega's :D :D :D :D :D And could get it into all sorts of shapes    round corners...   Yippeee....

Aye aye :!: Another can of worms to be opened methinks Rob

Seriously, I seem to recall somewhere in the very dim and distant past hearing about one or two in Merkan land but have never seen one or any pics of same. Sorry to be not too helpful but it might be start for you :D

Alternatively if not CRMC then it would make a terrific post classic bike, would it not :?:

Rob, there was a Harley at Jehonville a few years ago, arround 2002,I think.Someone said it was owned by a Spanish chap, but I don't really know.I remember Dickie Gale and I having a look at it! Maybe that Dickie knows more! He's on the IoM but I've lost his phone number.Best of luck.

I will try and post a picture of the Dutch Harley outfit, this is with 16 inch wheels and small sidecar wheel.
Richard, the owner, is now also building a sitter Harley with big 18 or 19 inch wheels (and again a small sidecar wheel) and to top it all there's also a proper kneeler in the making with 10 inch wheels all round!
