REVAMPED SCHEDULE PROPOSED FOR 2020 ISLE OF MAN TT RACES
It is proposed that the 2020 Isle of Man TT Races, promoted by the Department for Enterprise, will be run on a revamped schedule designed to improve spectator entertainment and mitigate the demands that are placed on teams, riders, volunteers including the TT Marshals Association and local residents. The proposed schedule will mean some changes to road closure periods and the established racing schedule.
Rob Callister MHK, Political Member with responsibility for tourism and motorsport, commented: ‘The proposed new schedule has been designed to optimise qualifying conditions and offer shorter race days, reducing the pressure placed on competitors, teams, volunteers and officials.’
‘This new format is also designed to minimise the impact that racing has on local residents and businesses with more clearly defined road closure schedules including the more definitive first weekend qualifying timetable and cutting the duration of road closures during race week which result in clearer, easier to follow road closure timetables. This will bring benefits to rider, visitors and locals throughout the TT period.’
The proposals mean the 2020 Isle of Man TT Races will begin a day later than previous years, starting on Sunday 31st May with an afternoon Qualifying Session. Evening Qualifying Sessions will then run as before from Monday 1st June to Thursday 4th June with the final session moved from the evening to a new afternoon slot on Friday 5th June. Provisional sessions remain in the schedule on Thursday afternoon and Friday evening now becomes a provisional session.
The new TT Race day format starts with a single lap ‘Morning Warm Up Session’ for solo competitors before the opening race of the week - the RST Superbike Race - which gets underway at midday on Saturday 6th June followed by the first Sidecar TT Race at 3pm.
Monday’s and Wednesday’s Race days – featuring the two Supersport Races, the RL360 Superstock and the Bennetts Lightweight Race – will also begin with a Solo Morning Warm Up Session, with a single lap Sidecar Shakedown Session added to the running order on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s second Sidecar Race and the Senior TT Race.
ACU Events Ltd, as race organiser for the TT Races, will now submit the programme to the Isle of Man Government Department of Infrastructure for consideration and approval.
This proposed new schedule will be integrated with a new off-track entertainment programme that will be announced on Saturday 16th November 2019 at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham.

So, last out every night in the dark then one lap between the two races all week.

Forget about going out in the dark, more that if there is a delay (like that ever happens

) they tend to try and keep more time for the solos, push the program back and reduce the last session, whoever that is..

I actually found the darkness an issue, especially for new comers with a high number (60+), mostly on the 2nd lap (assuming schedule wasn't shortened and we got a 2nd lap). Problem mostly solved now buy outlawing us older new comers

Looks like a mega Schedule!! Can't wait. 1 Extra practice, 2 days of Practice are in the day time, only 4 late nights instead of 5.
What more could you want (apart from obvious ridiculous and unfeasible answers) ?

I assume you are taking the mickey ? I'm not seeint at all what you're talking about ?
Just a little comparison between the 2019 and 2020 proposed schedule (keeping in mind, roads open at 1800 for the afternoon and 2100 for the evening, last session closed before )
......2019..........................2020
Sat, 1h45.......................Sun, 1H20 = 25min less
Mon 0h50 (last out)..........Mon 0h45 (last out) = 5min less
Tues 0h50 (last out).........Tues 0h45 (last out) = 5min less
Wed 0h45.....................Wed 0h45 (last out) = same time, but last out
Thu 0h45......................Thu 0h45 (last out) = same time, but last out
Fri 0h50 (last out)..........Fri 0h55 (?) = 5min more ?
Sat R1 3 lap...................Sat R1 3 laps = no change
Mon FP 2 laps(last out).....Mon 0 laps = 2 lap less
Wed FP 1 laps(last out)....Wed 1 lap (last out) = no change
Fri R2 3 lap...................Sat R2 3 laps = no change
So, with all that I fail to see how this is a good thing for sidecars, last out 2 more times,, every session except 2 is shorter (harder for the lower order to get 2 laps), and 2 laps lost on race week.
All that, keeping in mind that with the TT zero off the calendar that freed up 25min on wed, Thurs and Friday of practice week, and 1 lap on Saturday Monday, and the race time Wednesday!
Something doesn't look right. Letters should be sent

Also, the Wednesday 10 June 1 lap sidecar session is called a sidecar shakedown whatever that means

If it isn't called qualifying does it mean it will be untimed? If so any teams that haven't qualified for the first race will have little or no chance of qualifying for the second race and might as well go home a week earlier

Not at all, i'm genuinely excited. I am however a little concerned that you think they will struggle to get to laps in.... Lets say there is 60 bikes (jokes), that is 10 minutes to get every bike away leaving 35 minutes for the last team to get around before the flags out......Thats a lap speed of around 64mph,

i also understand they may need to make changes..... But if they are not a new team they have all year to sort the bike from last year!!

Yes considering that apart from WSB we`re the only ones producing World Champions you`d think they would treat us better
