As a classic sidecar competitor I am becoming increasingly concerned about the reduced grid sizes at race meetings. My worry is that if numbers continue to fall some clubs might abandon our class altogether.Date clashes between clubs events is a major issue, and the fact that as crews get older, or have other responsabilities, they drift away from the sport. The result being that there are unused outfits residing in sheds and garages throughout the UK and Europ. Myself and a small group of fellow competitors are trying to be proactive in getting these outfits back on the track.
We currently have several things on the go in an effort to achieve this. Any constructive comments to assist us in making this happen would be greatly appreciated, and if appropriate , acted upon.
Please inform us on this site if you have been able to use this lockdown time to prepare/repair an outfit ready to make a comeback when racing re starts.
Thanks, Steve Mann.Yamaha 880 XS

Re: Classic Sidecar grid numbers
I was hoping to get out this year after a long lay off on the XR 750 but then we were all struck down with the dreaded lockdown,so work on the outfit has come to a stop due to my engine man in isolation and lack of some necessary parts etc etc, even had an entry for the Cadwell Sidecar Bash, so looks like it will be next year now because if racing starts too late on, getting licences, medicals etc won`t be worth it
