BSB knockhill announcement

AB2K ROUND – KNOCKHILL – 10.11 JULY 2021

Further to the information issued on 15th June we have been in close consultation with Knockhill circuit.   Their events are subject to different jurisdiction to all other events in the championship.

On 15th June the Scottish Government announced that current levels of restrictions were “likely” to remain for three weeks from 28th June, this would include the period that the Bennetts BSB event falls.

At this level sporting events in certain tiers are restricted to 1000 spectators per day.  The circuit are in discussion with the relevant public bodies to seek to increase this.

The AB2K ROUND at Knockhill is one of three events due to be broadcast live, free to air on QUEST.
Faced with this scenario which is a difficult situation for the both the circuit and the championship we have made the joint the decision to continue with the event, but in a modified format.

The event will now take place over two days, Saturday/Sunday 10/11 July.  

The race categories will be confined to:

Bennetts British Superbikes, Quattro Group British Supersport/GP2, Pirelli National Superstock (1000) and the Honda British Talent Cup.

The championship schedules for Pirelli Junior Superstock and HEL Performance Junior Supersport will be reconfigured to maintain the planned full amount of points scoring races.  

In summary:

Pirelli Junior Superstock Championship, one additional race at Oulton Park 25-27 June and one additional race at WSBK Donington 2-4 July.

HEL Performance Junior Supersport Championship, two additional races at WSBK Donington 2-4 July.

The Molson Group British Sidecar Championship Knockhill round is cancelled.  At this stage no replacement races are foreseen due to the World and British Sidecar championship schedules.
