Report from Mark Walters

Estoril, Portugal.

Free Practice.

The sun was out, the track was dry. As the sidecar teams took to the track the heaven’s opened. All teams were on track, not one lap completed, all teams returned to pit lane, change of tyres needed.

Once again the sidecar teams took to the track, once there was a bit of heat in the tyres things got faster.

Ben and Tom Birchall set the fastest lap, a time of 2:06.207.

Pekka Paivarinta and Luca Schmidt set the second fastest time, a 2:07.201

Sam and Tom Christie set the third fastest time, a time of 2:07.330.

There will be change of schedule now. Instead of two races on Sunday, there will now be a 10 lap race on Saturday, starting at 15:40 local time. And Sunday a 17 lap race starting at 15:05.

Qualifying two report from Mark Walters

Estoril, Portugal.

Qualifying two.

Again the sun was out, the track was wet though but drying fast. Most teams went out on wets, but the track was drying so fast it would not be long before all teams would be in for slick or inters. Once the tyres were changed times fell dramatically.

At the end of the second qualifying session it was a very happy Pekka Paivarinta and Luca Schmidt who set the fastest time, a 1:48.609.

Second fastest time went to Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement, their time was 1:49.729.

Ben and Tom Birchall set the third fastest time, 1:50.917.

The fourth fastest time went to Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau, a 1:51.287.

The fifth fastest time was for Sam and Tom Christie, a time of 1:51.419.

Stephen Kershaw and Ryan Charlwood set the sixth fastest time of 1:51.771.

Bennie Streuer and Kevin Kolsch set the seventh fastest time. 1:51.810.

The ten lap sprint race will start at 15.40 local time. The teams will be hoping for a dry race.
