Free practice one report from Mark Walters

The third round of the 2025 FIM Sidecar World Championship is go!!

The weather is hot and sunny at the "Pannonia Ring" in Hungary.

Free practice went well for all teams.

Tim Reeves has German passenger Kevin Kolsch on this weekend, they are checking their machine data as they had smoke coming from their machine on the overrun going into corners. They completed the session though. But they will check over their machine.

Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie are setting the bench mark with a 1:57.509. However, it is free practice, but still a good time.

The sidecar teams have finished now for the day, but they will need to be on top form tomorrow as the have one more free practice, two qualifiers and a 9 lap race, it will all start at 08:00 local time and the 9 lap race will start at 18:30 local time. So it will be a very busy day for the teams.

Q1 report from Mark Walters

FIM Sidecar World Championship.

Pannonia Ring,

Qualifying one.

It was hot. And there was a bit of a delay before the sidecar teams took to the track, this was for track cleaning on turn 2 through to 4.
The teams took to the track. And straight away there was no obvious team looking like they were going to set a really fast time.
After the qualifying some teams did say that it was quit slippy through turn two.

A lot of teams went out on track then back into pit lane, then back out again. Possibly they were conserving their tyres

Sam and Tom Christie were first out and they have been having problems with their machine. They only did three laps but this was the fastest time throughout Q1. They set a time of 1:57.183. The team still have a problem with their machine, but they were happy with their time, they are still looking to solve the problem before Q2.

Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie set the second fastest lap time, a 1:57.600, Tim Reeves and Kevin Kolsch were out with Paivarinta and Christie, however Paivarinta and Christie came into pit lane after three laps, so did Reeves and Kolsch. Reeves said “We should have stayed out on track, the time we spent in pit lane was not long enough for the tyres to cool, when we went out again the tyre temperature was very hot which made the machine very hard to steer. Reeves and Kolsch set the fifth fastest time, a 1:58.707.

Another team not doing a lot of laps was the third place team of Markus Schlosser and Luca Schmidt, they were happy with what they did, they set a time of 1:57.954.

Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement set the fourth fastest time of 1:58.636. They were happy with this, they did not have any problems with their machine and they will see how Q2 goes for them.

Surprisingly, Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau did not set a time in Q1, but they were out on track, they did not have any problems with their machine. They will be out to set a time in Q2.

Rupert Archer and Ondrej Sedlacek still have a problem with their machine, they can’t pinpoint it. But still they managed a faster time in Q1 than they did in free practice. Their time was a 2:02.001, good for tenth.

No other teams had any problems and they are waiting to see what Q2 will bring for them. Q2 will start at 16.35 local time barring any delays.
