Well....it is spelled wrong...could be why I had such a hard time finding anything about it. :d

Ya know...us racer types aren't nessesarily the best spellers.

Well....I am claiming multiple head injuries. :d
I wear a better helmet now, but it hasn't help with my spelling skills or social graces.

Anyway....the rig has this...I don't even know what to call it...a passanger platform, maybe. It juts out beyong the chair wheel. We're trying to figure out if it's supposed to be there....or if someone added it somewhere along the way for some forgotten reason, now likely unnessesary. :nixweiss:

Give me a moment and I'll hunt up some pictures of what I am talking about.

OK, dug up pictures from 3 weeks ago.

We went to San Fransisco 3 weeks ago to pic up this rig. It has been a "loaner rig" for quite some time. It was nearly "race ready", but officials here in the states certainly did not want to see this rig on the track in the condition is has been in for many years.
So, instead of doing it "just good enough"....we started off by tearing her apart and starting over in many areas.
This is our road race starter rig....we will likely move on to a better rig....but for now, this is what we have. This rig will go on to be the beginner/loaner rig for some other team....we want to pass it along in good mechanical order. After all....once we're done with it...we will still have to race with it on the track....and we want it to be safe and sound.
This rig is known as the "Ol' 99", here in the states. A name that has made officials and tech inspectors shutter for a long time.
We want to change it's image as best we can.
We can't make it perfect....but we can do our best to make it mechanically safe and sound.

Here's what it looked like as of a few days ago.

We're working on the passanger tray....and need to work out what this thing on the side is before being able to make the tray.

knee tray

Unread post by gord »

The first rig I ever owned had one of those,it's for the passengers knee, you could make yourself real wide with those, alas it is illegal,we were made to cut ours off the first time the tech inspector saw it
