F350's racing with CRMC

Unread post by little chud »

Hi All,

I have just had a conversation with John Davidson of the CRMC regarding f350's racing with them.

The long and short of it is that in an effort to increase their grid sizes they created a Post Classic class for solo's. They are now thinking of doing the same for sidecars in which they would like to see how f350's fit.

I explained that the f350s are a mixed bag in terms of age, ours perhaps being the oldest from 81 and Al's being the newest from around 90?. I also explained about the older bikes with new banshee engines.

John's idea is to get a few of us at Donni at the end of the month and I presume although he didn't say it at some of the other rounds and see if they can draw up some rules for the long term to either include or exclude 350's.

One possible problem is that we may have to run on treaded tyres, the word moulded being mentioned. I have asked if cut slicks would be acceptable. The reason for this is that their clarke of the course isn't licenced to run races with bikes on slicks.

John has a meeting tomorrow and will be getting the answers regarding tyres etc.

Doug and I will be going assuming we have an engine sorted, the bike is ready and Doug has had his pot off by then. I have no idea how cut slicks will be in the dry (hope it rains) but I recon they should be OK. Does anyone know of a soft comp road tyre that would fit?

So are any of you 350 boys and girls coming to play at donni? come on Ian, you were even going to go back to the darkside to race there :D

i used to run on cut slicks on my last outfit as the cash was tight to have wets as well...yes they do get a little warmer and wear quicker but it is an option

Do you have an exact date John, as i would love to do Donni and even Mike might make the effort?

Well done for starting the process.

the latest from John at CRMC is that they do want to give 350's a try out but not at Donni. This is their highest profile weekend, which I think means they are scared that we will muller them ;) he he although he didn't say that.

I have agreed to catch up with him on a month or so after their next meeting.

We will have to use moulded tyres but John assures me there are plenty of tyres on the market up to the job. Any suggestions anyone?

I'll keep ya posted when I hear anything else.

nearest I found were yokohama A048-R which were 545 o/dia which is I think 30 mm taller than a slick at 515 (20" for Avon) that means on my bike the extra 15 mm rad means they would touch the forks on braking !

Hi all,

I would be interested in this approach and I know that I am a little late in this discussion thread but would be willing to assist in any discussions.

Started well this year but the collar bone plate has given up - more consultant/racer interface discussions, but perhaps I could sponsor some form of award/trophy type of thing?

"We will have to use moulded tyres but John assures me there are plenty of tyres on the market up to the job. Any suggestions anyone?" no good for Robin and I as we have interchangeable wheels and tyres F2 to F350 cutting down the cost !!!! ........we would love to be able to race with the CMRC on the 350 :thumbup:I feel that we would be doing them a favour by turning out not the other way around :) so why put obstacles in our way.....we need full grids out there chaps :) I loved it at Oulton when we had f1,f2,f350, post classic ,and scooter sidecars all out together ....each looking for a win in their own class ....It's time for the CRMC to move on in my opinion :D let's just get out there and race :dancers:

Hi All,

I spoke to Pat last week about this and she is on the case. She was going to talk to them and keep us informed.

I recon it will happen and on slicks but lets wait and see :D
