Fiddaman suzuki 750 informations needed

Hello,
I'm restoring an outfit built by Mick Fiddaman from Colchester. Now I'm looking for any information I can find. It seems to be built in the 1977 to 1982 years and was fitted with a Suzuki 750 twostroke engine. If anyone has any pictures, drawings, catalogues etc., that would be a great help for my restauration work.

Hi Dirk,
I used to race a Fiddeman outfit in the late seventies/early eighties, this was fitted with a semi-works Suzuki tripple 750 engine, unfortunatley I have no photographs any more, but I will check. The bike was fitted with a single top hat Formula 3 racing car vented front disc and single F3 alloy caliper with alloy CP calipers to the rear and sidecar. The engine had magnesium side casings and works ignition which was keyed to the crank and required no timing up, this was atotal loss system, and ran off the battery only.
Barrels & head were ex-Sheene, and were fueled via 3 number 38/40mm Amal concentric carburettors. The crank was fitted with works main and small end bearings which had adiitional rollers in from standard, and were much more reliable.Two exhausts ran down the right hand side of the machine and the left hand exhaust ran across the frame. All the wheels were Allycat car type, not the usual sidecar type. I used to have the engine machine work done by Kegworth engineering, just outside Nottingham, England. They had all the works bits including bearings ect and did all the work as far as I know on behalf of Rex White, who was the works Suzuki Heron Team GB manager. I would be interested to see some photographs of the bike, it may well have been mine as very few were made for the Suzuki engine. The bike was extreamly quick at the time and would give a 4 cylinder TZ outfit a good run for its money, although slightly slower on a long straight.
If you need any information, I would be only too pleased to assist if at all possible.

Hi Martin,

thanks for your post. I will see if I can make some pics in the next days. Unfortunatly my harddisk crashed one year ago and all the pics I took from the assembled bike are lost. Today the outfit is in my workshop, the fairing staying outside under my carport. But I will make pics of all parts and post 'em here, maybe that's helpfull.
Quite contrary to your description there are two exhausts on the left, one on the right side. But I´m not quite sure if that's the original state, because all the exhausts were very badly modified. You couldn't even call them exhausts I don't know wich botcher did this......
Wheels on my outfit are Compomotive modulars, brake are CP's all around. Two on the front wheel, one on the back and one on the sidecar wheel. I bought it without engine, because the guy it came from took it off the bike for driving it in his GT750 on public roads! It was a full works engine with works ignition, head, cylinder and the dry clutch assy.

Looks identical to my old machine, for some reason my earlier post has gone missing, only thing that looks different is the front brake set up, I would be interested to see some pictures of the engine, especially the right and left side crank case sides, if it is my old bike I would know if it was mine or not, assuming it is the same engine that is, left hand side would have an ex works ingnition, right hand side had an aluminium blanking plate, carbs were Amal.

Hi Martin,

as steve-e said, I started two threads, maybe the webmaster can combine and close one of them?
I'm sorry I can't post any pictures of the engine because I didn't get it with the outfit. But I know it had a works ignition and a dry clutch assembly plus works head and barrels. I don't know which sort of carbs were mounted.
But I'm uploading some more photos of break and shift pedal and other details. These look quite unique. Might be you recognize them.
At first it's the grab bar for the monkey. It seems to me that it's in a quite strange position, because it leaves only little space to sit on the platform. Next points are brake and shift pedals, please have a look at the pictures. How was shifting brought from left to right? was there a different shaft in the gearbox that came out on the right side? At last, the brake master cylinder mountings. Until today I don´t know which type of car the mounted master cylinders came from. I´ll upload a picture of one of them. Maybe you can give me a hint?

Hi Dirk,
I have been searching for photographs, but so far no luck, I found some of my previous 750 Suzuki, and that had 2 exhausts on the right hand side, perhaps I am confused and the left and centre exhausts went across the frame. The gear linkage was on the right hand side, and had been modified to come through the engine, behind the clutch as opposed to a linkage across the frame, as a lot of modern machines are. I will try and contact Margaret my old passenger, she may have some photographs. I may have some technical info on the works engine as I did buy a number of books at the time to use as general back up information. There is a company who still do tuning bits, I will obtain some info for you as to what is still available.

IIRC the kettle was very easy to swap gear change from left to right. A simple matter of breaking through a blind hole insider the right case which aligns with the gear lever shaft and pushing the shaft through then blanking off existing ho;le in left case - sorted

Ah! Forgot to mention that you would have to fit an oil seal onto the RH case otherwise you might end up with a leaking kettle
