Hi
hes was, about 15-20 years ago, married to a wife belonging in some form to Donington Park race track. I saw him there many many years ago.

According to the age records on the website below, Benga is 52.

I seem to remember that he was seeing Tom Wheatcroft's daughter at one time, years ago, so I suppose that is the Donington connection?

I think your're right Gordie boy - there was definitely a major Donington connection with.

If he's 52 now, that would have made him 23 when he won the world title in 1980 - sound about right?

It's not at donnington any more..........Jocks outfit has been sold to someone in Scotland and he is putting it into a museum in Aberdeen (don't know which museum), but apparently there was quite a few pieces missing from the bike when he got it.

Just came across this post,.
Benga was over in Scotland for the unveiling of Jocks memorial in Pencaitland in Dec 2006, that was the last time i saw him. I managed to get in touch with him and Jocks mechanic/"friend" Anita Petterson as well and they both flew over. Benga hasnt aged a bit. Yip he is now 52, married, no kids and lives in Sweden working for a car company(cant remember which). He lived with Mandy Wheatcroft, daughter of Donington owner Tom for many years.
