Re: any ideas???
I may be wrong but i think that Markus Bosinger ran something similar in the late 90,s that he could sit in rather than kneel on because of injuries sustained

This was the way forward.ianw wrote:pic of Rolf Bilands "sitter" for gary, oops, sorry off topic![]()
A comfortable way to be in an outfit.
It would have brought the car scene into the sport and IMHO by now there would have been good grids .
At a combined car /bike meeting at Knockhill the car guys loved the sidecars .
The governing bodies need a shake up and start to think to the future.
What do you think Ianw

Re: any ideas???
I fully agree !! not that this is the way forward, but “ It would have brought the car scene into the sport ”
...... because that’s exactly what it is, like all wobbly wheeled long outfits, .. a car !! certainly not a sidecar ! thank you Mr Biland .....NOT
.........sorry, did somebody say “debate”
!!

Re: any ideas???
Definition of a sidecar-
"A one wheeled device attached to the side of a motorcycle producing a 3 wheeled vehicle"
Outfits stopped being motorbike & sidecars in the late 60's when people stopped attaching sidecars to them. When the frame was one piece they then became 3 Wheeler's.
Think wal is trying to wind mike up

Re: any ideas???
They are superb steve, & the merlin outfits that were posted in another thread.
Bit like it must have been in the 50's & 60's ( bit before my time ) when some competitors rode the outfits to the circuits , strapped number plates to the bikes & went out & raced them.
Below is a pic of my late father in law passengering instead of riding with Dick Bleese on the same outfit they would road race, grass track & sand race with the Wirral 100

Re: any ideas???
That passengering is a bit extreme just to get through the paddock

Re: any ideas???
The grass tracking skills came in handy when you needed to overtake
That was at Rhydymoan ( spelt wrong) I think the track was that narrow all the way round, circuit was just outside Saint Asaph. Russ Hackman another famous sidecar racer from Wirral & a mate of the father in laws raced there.
