Dragsters always had the external hold down bolts because if you got the nitro mix wrong ( nitro methane as in the explosive ) the top end would come flying off the bottom with disastrous results. There were some drag racers killed because of this happening. Gob full of pistons & barrel's :(

Yes number 274 is mine taken at Santa Pod in October 2008 Prior to 4 passes in the dark !Its an Asco that used to belong to the Pottingers, but was written off at Cadwell in 2004 by John Mitchell. It was stretched by 2 feet to fit a second Blackbird engine, and enable me to get my nimble24 stone frame into it.Its got Nitrous injection an air shifter, and its for sale---I need more cubes !

The "boys" outfit in the background is indeed Julian Coles M R Equipe.

Me and Ian Turner were third in the Bemsee Southern championship on that bike in 2003.

Top bike, the Asco. Destroyed the tyre wall along the Park straight at Cadwell in 2004, but I don't remember that........................

Angus McPhail built the Jade Warrior which only had 2 wheels but it
stood up on its own, as all good bikes should because the back tyre was W I D E .
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.
