No, you have to pay to park anywhere in York. And now they are talking of a congestion charge too.
Parking discs are used in the I.o.M. and quite a few smaller market towns over here though still.

York is already becoming a ghost town, it's only held together by tourist trade. l have a few places in York where l park on double yellow lines. Looked into it carefully and a lot of the lines are not legal ie they do not conform to the road traffic act. Had quite a few penalty notices but so far beaten them all.

traffic wardens are about, £60 for an photo of your car or pay in 14 days and get 50% discount
