Leading on from " To dispell any Doubts"

Going on from the discussion about the Konnig's.
When was the Weslake ( Rickman ) 8 valve head first raced? Not the Read Rickman engine, the Weslake top end?

I've just spoken with Bill Currie, to his recollection the " kit" 8 valve top end came out in 1968, this was a year before he finished 3rd at the TT ( 1969 ) on a Triumph.
The full Weslake motor appeared in 1970, Martyn Ashwood rode it in a solo then Bill had it in his sidecar. This motor had a totally different bottom end to what is now known as the Weslake / Nourish engine. The full motors which we have to day appeared late in 1970.
