Couldn't Howard be given "special dispensation" & be allowed to race?
We did this with Forgotten Era, we allowed Paul Hanson to race his Barton Pheonix with us, to be reviewed annually.
As long as the dreaded TZ 700/750 are kept well away from
from your grids.
They were banned from Forgotten Era for many a year, they were only allowed in because of dwindling grid sizes. Like them or not, it was the death bell for the class.
How in god's sake could they expect a guy with a Triumph engined outfit to line up against a TZ750

Your right Ian I remember it well. We must not under any circumstances allow Yamaha TZ700/750s in to Classic Racing, even a good TZ350 will beat any classic bike on our grids, never mind a four cyclinder 750cc.

And there was I thinking this Sidecar Eligibility job was a piece of cake.
Then along comes a bloke with a Konig.
A fantastic little engine and the more varied the engines on the grid the better. However - where to put it. I have spoken to just about everybody I can think of, all of whom have far more knowledge of sidecars than I do. Dave Molyneux indeed tried to register a Konig with the CRMC in 1999 and was turned down; I'm led to believe because he could not produce the article that Howard felt the need to publish here in such eye-catching type; and from reading the posts above it's clear that many of you can appreciate my predicament.
My view is that yes it does scrape into the classic club grid with a 1967 motor. However, Rolf Steinhausen won the World Championship in 1975 with the Konig and Howard's earlier summer posts show a Konig in a Windle chassis dated 1976 and an invoice from the shop in Hersham dated 1975. Indeed everybody I have spoken to - World Champions, British Champions, reknowned chassis builders all place the Konig as a '70s machine, CRMC Period 4 - Post Classic Class - the engine fits, the wheels fit, the chassis fits.
Knowing Howard's wishes and clearly he has put a lot of time, effort and money into the machine I have issued it with a TEMPORARY Period 3 eligibility card which means he will be running with the Imps, Big BMW's, Weslakes etc., this season.
As Ian W said in the previous postings when discussing the TZs - how can you put a TZ against a Triumph, my feeling is likewise - how can you put a Konig against a 650 Triumph or 750 BSA - hence the temporary P3. In Belgium they run the Konigs in the GP 500 class.
I am now in contact with the people organising the pre-TT classic and so will be able to get some feedback from them as to how things go, but also I would welcome any constructive thoughts as the season progresses.
So here's looking forward to seeing Howard on his Konig racing with the CRMC this season.

Got to agree with Eddy Ian, you are a breath of fresh air blowing through the Classic Club ( of old ) As Mike Richards says " Classics are the future " There is no other sidecar class that can consistently turn out the variety of outfits as your club does. All the outfits in other class's look the same & sound the same.That very fact will guarantee classics existence
Makes me want to dust the leathers down & get me self a classic

Well done Captain. Im sure that bike will bring lots of attention to the sidecar races in the club, what a fabulous machine. And im also sure there will be some great battles out on track this year.

Ian that is a really good compromise well done. As for ianw get yourself a classic mate you will be surprised how good our club is, and the variety of racing. Like you say they dont all look, and sound the same. You and any other F2 guys will be very welcome.
