David Johnson & James Blackmore accident yesterday

Unread post by Simon Smith »

As I am receiving lots of enquiries about the accident at Mallory yesterday I thought I should post some information.

The outfit left the circuit at the exit of Gerrards and David and James both hit the inside barrier (right hand side) at speed.

David, although battered and bruised is OK and back at work today.

James has one fracture in his back, three in his neck, and broken collar bone and six broken ribs (three each side). The good news is that he has not suffered a head injury or any damage to nerves in the spine. He is having surgery today to stabilise the neck and back injury.

He is in intensive care at Leicester Royal Infirmary for close observation but is talking and joking. Although it does hurt him when he laughs he is in good spirits.

I'll will be visiting him today as he has asked for some earplugs so he can get a decent kip.

I'll keep you posted.

Horrendous accident. His helmet certainly saved his life, it was in a terrible state.

It was a real nasty crash and surprising that David didn't end up in the same state as James. Hope all goes well in the theatre today and Jame's has a quick recovery. David will be aching a bit but at least he walked away. Best wishes to both.

Latest update -

James has just phoned David from hospital - he has seen the specialist and will be having two operations on his back and neck - he will be in hospital for two weeks and out of action for 2 - 3 months.
