Ok one particular rim is driving us mad, does anyone know how you seal them once they have been split into 3 pieces so that they don't leak
We have tried putting sillicone sealant between each mating surface but it still leaks as we have sprayed soapy water on the rim and it leaks just underneath the cap head bolts, help as we keep paying to get tyres on and off and it still goes down....
The first thing to do is take the rims off the centre and clean off all the silicone.
Bolt the rims onto the centre and torque the bolts to the correct torque.
You then fill the joint line with silicone all around the well of the wheel.
Let the silicone go off over night and fit the tyre.
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

yes let the silicone go off...if you dont let it fully cure then you will get a leak....also make sure that you use a good branded silicone....skimp on it and you will pay dear........make sure there are no nicks or marks on the inner edges......also be sure to have allyour bolts cleaned and ready....its alot easier if thres 2 of you ...one to put the bolts in and the other to put the nuts/washers on...also make sure that you evenly nip them up .....dont rush it but be sure to get on as the silicone will cure and not be super sticky......turn the nuts not the bolts also as then it wont move the silicone.......if your really stuck the send me the wheel and i will built it for you(will only cost you the postage)......ta matt dix....

sounds like you may have hairline cracks between your bolt holes and the rim inner edge,check it out
if not bring it to me and we will do it together mate
We broke something, I think it was traction….........
If you want a wheel that will never leak air, get 2 "O" ring grooves machined in the hub, gauranteed never to leak. I think silicone sealant is unique to wheels used in sidecar racing.
