Dean,
Only one of those Hondas is a 600RR and that is in the USA.
I've bought parts from the USA and it is not that easy and costs quite a bit over the stated price.
Packing/shipping is expensive IF the shop will do inernational shipping. There is a price you have to pay to get it through customs and then the customs charge you import duty and VAT.

I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.
It just made him more sluggish.

Carry on then Dean ,your the wheeler dealer. You buy them and the sidecar world will buy them off you. Oh someone in Yorkshire is already doing that.

Re: TT 2011...important...engine spec
ok ...my turn...ive kept quiet till now.....
well about 5 years ago i said that the f2 class needed to go to standard engines...this was to try and give a more even races and chances to all budgets......i got 2 engines in late 2007 and raced for 2 years on them...they where straight from ebay and i never touched them....i managed to win the double ngrrc championships with them in 2008 and had some great racing in 2009 with them.....quite often i had really hard battles with people with very tuned motors and they just couldnt believe that my engines where as discribed.......i even got a good second at the start of 2010 at brands bsb only a few tenths slower a lap than winner john holden...that was with again one of these engines(still not touched in any way)..........but......i was off to the tt in 2010 and i decided to get a small amount of work done to help me out .....now i took my poor engines and had some work carried out on the top ends and one newer engine was refreshed(this was to be my main race engine)........with the other being condemed as it was excessively worn out.....so i had to drag out the other old spare that also had done the same work as the condemed one.....all the work cost me about £1500 in total with a spare head in that cost and a set of cams....that money at the time took a huge number of hours to earn and the tuner even helped with a slightly reduced bill....thanks chap...)........now ive 2 engines....one a lot better than the other....
i was hoping to do the tt in 2011 but it was looking tight as i was needing to get at least one engine if not 2 due to the lesser engine i have being really tired.....but now i will need 1 engine(at least) and 2 heads as both heads on my engines have very light port cleaning and have a small skim....
all this i now will need to do 8 months to be in time for the tt......its very unlikely now......the tt that is .....
look im all for standard engines ....have been for years....but i feel that the time being given for all teams is toooooooooo short(max of 8 months) ......i really think that we need to look at all having standard engines(not just heads) for 2012(thats for f2 national and all non club racing).....that way we will have a good 15 months from now to use what we have and to prepare for it...that way we can all get standard engines and not be messing about with heads this year and engines the next....
im the fsra f2 rep and trust me i ''didnt vote'' for this change.......but i totally agree with its idea
in general we all will need to find about 100 heads(at least) and then the market will be flooded with our worthless tuned ones...so a longer period will suit all im sure......ive been looking since before the tt for engines and i cant find any ...well not within my budgets.........so im with both dean and andy king....but in different ways.....thanks matt dix

Re: TT 2011...important...engine spec
Just as an aside - redundant tuned heads, might there be a market in the 600 solos for them? At least they would not be a total loss.
Just asking ...
Just asking ...

yes there is always a market to buy and sell....but flood the market and the goods become worthless or impossible to sell dont they....if you need things(like heads and engines) and there are not enough available then there is either a shortage or the demand will put prices sky high....either way its losses losses.....time is not a great thing in the f2 class as we need change to keep teams running for the tt to survive....but i really feel that this engine change is correct but the time given is tooooooooooo short......

Of course Matt, I understand the laws of supply and demand. My point was that some return could be had on redundant kit ...

Re: TT 2011...important...engine spec
Without prejudice.
Having yet again read through all the posts in this thread, desperately looking for something we couldn’t just ‘cut & paste’ from the threads in last year’s silly season. . . . .
Looking at the overall picture, I am still at a loss to determine what exactly is going on here ?
Individually every posting has it’s reasons and merits, and I’m certainly not going to enter into any argument with any of them, but in respect of the TT, can somebody elude to what we are actually trying to achieve ?
Is it:
a. To slow bikes down ?
b. To make Sidecars cheaper ?
c. To Make the TT safer ?
d. To increase Sidecar TT entry levels ?
Whether you want any of these or not, as I see it, nothing currently being discussed will significantly achieve any of the above, so I ask again, what actually is the purpose of all this ? The only remark that makes sense at the moment, is Dave Stewart’s when he said he had to do something before anything REALLY stupid was suggested !!!! But in saying that, it doesn’t really answer ...what are we trying to achieve ?
Personally, I hope it’s not an extension of the con that was the meeting during the TT, where 80 + Sidecar people sat in a room and let Mr Jim Parker blow smoke up our arse’s about Motec (AKA. . . the scapegoat), when in reality, the meeting had no goals, no outcome, and no purpose other than so it could be said that “we” had input into the ACU’s decision making process....sorry, don’t think so !!!

Re: TT 2011...important...engine spec
Count your lucky stars the ACU are only saying standard engines the last time the acu got involved they stopped the F1 racing at the TT for going to fast!
For those who can remember it was a full bike not just an head or an engine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Germany:
2 Years standart engines in the IDM--- it works,
this year standart engines in the Sidecar Trophy---- it works. ( next year also all guest, greetings to France from here.)
This is where all the future goes.( Superbike, Supersport, Superside,) Do you want the last class to have tuned and blowing engines?
After this, think about the noise. This will be our next problem. Easy to handle with standard engines. We had to run 96 db in Hockenheim. It works with standart engines and db- killer. Tuned engines had big problems. ( Mr. Currie )
Bye Eckart

i was told that 2 weeks ago what aload of b----ocks
we need as much practice as poss
i beleave its to do with the top teams doing bsb rounds ,if thats the case why should we all suffer and lose a practice session

paul phillips you want sidecars on the grid dont let them cut our practice , every day round the tt course is a lerning day
