It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!
Re: CRMC New Eligibility Rules
We could try that at mallory that has a pond
Re: CRMC New Eligibility Rules
why did you not suggest that before it's so simple, we go to mallory for the first meeting and we can line them all up and check them there, and that way we can't have any arguments (sink or swim) as you said the old ways are the best.

Re: CRMC New Eligibility Rules
It's the old ways, or perhaps the old guard that reduced the classic sidecar grid to the pathetic level of a few years ago.

Re: CRMC New Eligibility Rules
When I took over there were on average 7/10 outfits per meeting, and when I left the numbers had doubled ,but I can say that the ones that were there were eligible to be there.

Is that a bit of a gripe Eddy,I dont mind change, I raced years ago against Dave Kay and the MV before he was outlawed, I did`nt mind his bike at all at least it had a proper engine in itEddy Wright wrote:It's the old ways, or perhaps the old guard that reduced the classic sidecar grid to the pathetic level of a few years ago.

Blimey whats gone wrong with you lot!!!!
I think certain individuals who keep having a dig at richard really need to get over themselves!! Or in fact take on the role of eligibilty and do better! ( I guess people get brave sitting behind a key board)
Well I hope you lot are ok, In some ways I'm glad I can't race anymore, especially after reading this thread I don't think I could afford to. I'm glad I got to race back in the good ole days with Bludge, Bellaby, Evans, Reeves, Capel, Ledermans, latherons, Digby, Hands etc. Proper proper racing, it will never be the same as sadly you have allowed the bikes to evolve instead of preserving the essence of them. Shame really. - Long Live 10" wheels
Why do imps now need to be 1200cc - jesus, is 120bhp 998 not enough?? - Christ these front exit F2's oops I mean BMW outfits must be stupidly fast!!
Good Luck to the current Mr Eligibilty - seems you're gonna need it!!
Well, good luck to you all in your future exploits STAY SAFE if nothing else, and WELL DONE MATTY its about bloody Time!!
I now retire gracefully

Re: CRMC New Eligibility Rules
Why do you deem BMW outfits F2s Jan Herbert ? You built a replica chassis was yours an F2 ? Standards have gone up in classic racing, machine preparation, riding, reliability, is that why you packed up ?

Re: CRMC New Eligibility Rules
Ref Jan Herberts Comments
Perhaps he should read the rule book, My replica classics are within the rules if you want to call them F2 fine
One of the names you quoted chassis was certainly not within the rules
It good to know you have retired as now the classic sidecars are thriving thanks to the efforts of sidecar bloke and his helpers. You probably enjoyed racing against a handful of outfits where there are now full grids.
