i've run did vm x-ring chain for the last 10 years...never had one break and always used a good lube(like PJ1 race lube)...you just keep it well lubed and change the chain every other season(or every season if you dont look after it!!!!)....renthal front sprockets and normal alloy ones on the rear(just dont clean the black stuff off the teeth on the sprockets(thats what shops it from wearing it out)...ta matt
I've got an idea Put the engine behind the driver Then you can run a shorter chain
Am I not helping? Sorry, just having a break from something that's doing my noodle..

We never had any problems at all Brian how many links {rollers] will your chain be??
we never had a chain break[and Dean gave it a hard time ] but as Matt says we always bought a good one D.I.D. or regina
and changed it each year but we didn't do the TT otherwise would have put a new one on for that.
we didn't run a spring adjuster or anything like that and as I said ours was 126 rollers
cheers John
The Thundercat was a long engine compared to the Suzuki Brian. I can remember thinking our chains looked very long when we changed from Thundercats to R6s.
