Re: Query from iomtt.com
Not sure about the BMW era,but as Geoff says on iomtt forum,Clive Pollington must be a candidate.
The 1975/6 book "Champion Who's Who of Motorcycle Racing" mentions he was then aged 40,so he would have been around 45 ? for the 1980 win.

Re: Query from iomtt.com
But I seem to remember John mentioning about Wolfgang Kalauch....
So before John can confirm, reckon he would have been about 49 at the time of his last win,in 1978

I think Clive Pollington was about 51 but I could be miles out.
So how long have I had these voices in my head, I hear you ask?

Re: Query from iomtt.com
Don't know about Clive Pollington but Ronno's book would seem to rule him out compared to Wolfgang Kalauch. JH is the new owner of the driver's record beating Lowry Burton and Roy Hanks.

Re: Query from iomtt.com
My book does not mention Clive Pollington's date of birth, but just says he was aged 40 ,book compiled in 1975,published in 1976 ?,so at the 1980 TT ,would make him 45 or 46,give or take a year or two, assuming info is correct.
Who is going to check with Trev ?
With Wolfgang Kalauch we know DoB (20 Jan 1929),making him 49 in 1978 TT.

Re: Query from iomtt.com
yes dad was 40 when he won a week off 41. However dad thinks he could be the oldest passenger to win the double that is still racing if that makes sense
John I'm sure you'll know.

Re: Query from iomtt.com
Since there's been two races a year for the same c.c. i.e. 1977, Clive Pollington would be the oldest passenger to win the double with Dave second. Back to drivers, in the 1988 programme there's an article on Lowry Burton stating he was 48 when winning in 1986 and so 49 when winning in 1987 but you'd need to know the d.o.b. to find if he was older than Roy in 1997.
