I know what you are saying Steve.
If I had enough money, I could buy the Mona Lisa and then burn it.
Still don't make it right though...................

Yes your right there you pay your money and make what you want of it

Its certainly nothing to do with anyone else it might well end up as a real nice outfit something to be proud of best of luck to them I hope it goes well

They might well have happened across the Formula 2 bike that was originally intended not all this Hi Tec nonsense it would be great to build a bike for less than the cost of a wiring loom :o

The chassis was put on here for all to buy and put a 350 or similar engine into it but no takers, so as i needed the cash it went to someone who wanted to buy it, age old proverb something is only worth what someone will pay for it, heritage or not.
Run out of cranks so switched to diesel R6!

Cheers for those great words of encouragement from one and all........we'll just keep the 85BHP reliable 4stroke twin 'trunddling up the hills. After all Hillclimbing is one of the oldest forms of motorsport so don't you'll get yer knickers in a twist !!

Looks that way, Alan. Seems like it's going to spend the rest of its' life trundling up hillclimbs with a GS500 in it.

When questioned about the choice of engine; the reply was, allegedly - "Because they're cheap!"

It breaks my heart to see an outfit, such as this, butchered in this way. It's got some real pedigree.
There ought to be a law against it!

You really couldn't make this up.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry! :x
When you sold your outfits did you tell the new owner what they had to do with the bike? I have bought some real dogs of bikes and made them, what I think is, better, others may not agree.
This is an old chassis and it will be used for hill climbing, a TZ engine would be a stupid engine to use so it is being fitted with a more suitable engine, I don't see the problem with that.
If it has such a good pedigree and shouldn't be butchered then why not buy it yourself, fit a TZ engine and go out and play.
I think we should be encouraging people to take up sidecars not slagging them off for getting an unused chassis back into racing.
I've seen some photos of it and he is doing a bloody good job.
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Cheers for that Keith, thats my thoughts exactly and this piece of history would now be sat in someone elses garden rotting. Tis a bloody good job that I run a machine shop amongst other things and have a tame Chief Engineer designer who takes alot of interest in this little project. :notworthy:

Great weekend by the way ............. didn't realise that I'd won the 350 champ ........ took me a bit by suprize :D

I reckon those manifolds took about 30 hours to machine out of 2 blocks of HE30. They go from 40mm to 39mm at a 7 degree angle to the head. The inlets of the head have been opened out by 5mm and blended to the manifold. The 'roof' of the throat above the valve raised by nearly 7mm to creat swirle. retained the same size valves but tripple angled the seats.

Supercharger turning up this week hopefully...........but might run the early season without the blower.

I personally agree with A-n-P ....... This should be a low budget job we're hoping for Sub 3 grand for the finished article of which will be a good reliable base to start from. ;)

Dad had a pair of DCOE 40's on the NSU, when I was about 10 I learnt to take the top off and fill them up rather than have choke to get her started. Then a bit later changing the chokes inside for different circuits. It all fell apart when it destroyed Quaiffe Commando boxes but it was all experimeting back then :D

i think the outfit looks well sweet, and sounds like it will get plenty of use, which is why they were built in the first place - well done

Hi Keith........uurrmm no I don't. where does it say alloy one's arnt allowed as I can find nothing in the Hillclimbing, sprint and drag regs on the subject !! :o

Do they have to be not alu alloy then then ??

Should'nt be to hard to make a titanium set or is this not allowed in hillclimbing either. 8-)

Be just a boring steel one then

Can anyone on here give any advice on this subject ?? :?:

Cheers
Kev ( fresh from the garage after spending the w/e rebuilding the back end in total, I don't think the back end has ever been stripped in its life.........several sets of bearings later  and its fully back to how Mr Windle intended)

PS will be a bummer if the alloy hoop is now longer allowed as has just been cracked tested rebushed and polished
