IF it is allowed cheapest 2 stroke engine would be an Arctic Cat 2cyl 500cc plenty voooma standard and you don't need a gearbox just change the drive belt every time out. Loads of them available in the US and Canada from 1000usd up for a complete snowmobile. DO IT>

unfortunatly mate,if its 25 years old in my mind its classec ,cant see what the problem is,have a class for classic long bikes,makes sense ;) ;) ;) ;) otherwise there will be and must be loads about parked rotting somewhere.you might even encourage,Webbo and Abbott etc paradeing and racing "historic" machines bringing more interest and spectators to your meetings.
changeing the subject slightly,a club called Karting Legends has rebuilt and paradeing ex GP long circuit karts of all formulas at car meetings and are drawing tremendous interest,just a thought.
