I remember I went to Bill Coopers place in 1978/9 and he had the BRM outfit there, I wonder what happened to that?

Dave Bexley was the proprietor of Hadleigh Custom Bikes, only recall him on the CBX powered jobby although got to know him quite well as a client and friend. After he quit with Hadleigh Custom he became an IT trainer working from Wakering near Southend-on-Sea.

steve - you did get Alf Whisker right UNfortunately do not recall the satanic outfit that you mention, must have been just before my 'comeback' in the late '70s.

Here's one for Bob which I hope is not off topic. The big guy with curly hair that rode something similar at the time, something devillish maybe about the name of the bike but it escapes me. Not Satan, maybe started with an O. If it's off topic do excuse me but he was one of my heroes as a kid along with Alf Whisker (sp?)

was that the driver with the first fattest tyre? On the rear?

Andy Jacksons KGB imp was not the outfit he built with the tyrell wheels that was powered by a tz750 motor i think that had hub centre steering also sidecar wheel steering the imp was built at KGB near Gloucester i will be seeing him soon i'll ask if he has any photos of it.

Replica outfits or as Bill calls them copies ought to be allowed IF classic racing was true to the 70's which it proudly claims to be...

Im only qouteing the rules for the fsra post classic class,which is where Konigs etc are allowed to race,NOT the rules for the classic club,which represent a different era(pre 72).The post classic class is for anything upto 1978 engine wise,and approx 1984/85 chassis wise,but no long outfits ie rear engine.I think,the rule about no replica hubctr steering outfits is to stop the class being flooded by them,and rendering anything with forks obsolete,although it would be nice to see 1or 2 out there.

I think discretion is the important part. Nobody wants to see a machine that is supposedly from the era but fitted with innocent looking but expensive or hugely faster bits added. Eligibilty officers really have their work cut out in their decisions, which is why the CRMC now have a great chairman A man who really has helped the CRMC along in his previous position. need a new thread..

Bill Cooper made a few outfits with Difazio hub centre steering .We ran one in 78/79. Did my first Southern in 79 on it. A bit heavy to steer with a Z1000 motor. Had a green spot type tyre if i remember correctly.

I don't think flooding the class is likely to happen and remember in the main they would have to be home built and all the issues would have to be sorted out, as was the case when they were in period, and then we have the quality of the driver to come into the equation. I don't think they would be altogether a runnaway succes. They weren't totally in period, I remember guys struggling with them. They don't suit everybody, but you can't continue to deny that they belong!!

Steve, I don't believe anybody is trying to introduce "innocent looking and expensive or hugely faster bits", just to be able to race replicas of what they did, as Rarin to Go wants, in their earlier days.

I don't know why you think we need another thread, this one seems to be bringing out some interesting stuff!!
