Bill Lymburn Reported to the Moderaters

Unread post by Bill Lymburn »

It would appear that I have upset a number of unnamed people in an unnamed club, as there has been a lot of complaints about me bad mouthing their club. I can only assume it is the CRMC. The report came via the topic about Birchall's test outfit. I'm truly sorry if any of my posts on here have caused offence to anyone, that was certainly never my intention. The intention has only ever been to get a place for outfits of historic interest to get a place to race. Maybe my sense of humour is a wee bit different, being Scottish, but the post in Birchall's was pretty obviously tongue in cheek, however, I'll ask Steve if he can delete it as I have no wish to offend anyone.
I think the best thing I can do is withdraw entirely from this worthy cause and hope that someone, who causes less offense, takes it up.

Tony, many thanks for your support and encouragement, I've also had a number of PMs supporting me, so I don't feel quite so bad about it now. However, I'm going to mull it over, so few new entries coming forward with support, that's more disappointing that the opposition I'm getting. What can be done to rally the interest of the new entrants. In the time this thread has been going on we have lost three outfits, that I know off, who have committed to go to France. :? :? :?

I'd agree with that Tony - nothing wrong with "talking" about things - and even a bit of gentle humour / leg-pulling - maybe as Bill says - it's his "Jock" sense of humour   (sorry bill - couldn't resist)
I think it's important to be able to speak up for & about things you are passionate about - even if others don't agree - unless we're advocating "selective" free speech...

Don't worry Gordon, "Jock" don't offend real Scotsmen. As my mother said, "Sticks and stones will break your bones - but names will never hurt you". :D :D :D

read the posts ref birchalls, who on earth have you offended? :? you obviously have an issue which is clear, but you have offended nobody.if members have a grievance with a club or a member for one reason or another non offensive talking(posting)surely is acceptable.
mention the ACU and it summons semi offensive posters out of the woodwork all day long.
if it was the CRMC or whoever, maybe they should comment by post.lets not report to the moderators whenever eyebrows are raised.
get bill off the naughty square
We broke something, I think it was traction….........

Well this helps greatly. Nobody will have any issues reporting stuff now.

Obviously it was not one post that was the cause but that was one example. Camels and straw. I would rather not post the full scenario here though, which was precisely why this was being done by PM.
There were no posts pulled and no action taken, just a quiet word that the constant digging was attracting complaints.
This thread itself I would find offensive if it were aimed at me, to try to have a polite word in the background for finger pointing to start in public is not how things work to their best.

All this undermines the position of the moderators and puts a forum on dodgy ground.

People.
Read my post above.

The post in itself was not offensive enough for any action to be taken, but the culmination of a few 'pointed' attacks where the moderators were asked to have a word about conduct - not to take any action.

This thread could be seen as yet another dig at the CRMC and has been by the people who have already reported it to me.

I see it we have a few choices.
A wildly disproportionate amount of the reports in the last month have come from this section.

1)People stick to the rules and spirit of the forum - not wildly different to most forums - and it carries on.

2)A handful of people - who knows maybe a dozen if it comes to is - who don't understand the rules or spirit of this forum are banned from participating and the rest of us carry on.

3)I just drop the whole classic scene as being too much trouble. My original intention this morning was to shut the whole place down - as happens every year the week before Christmas when all this starts, but I've had enough emails telling me to take control that that is what we shall do - people behave, we ban a few, or shut down this section and carry on with the rest.

If you want to continue your abuse and judgment of the moderators who give up their free time to try to keep things respectful then please email them or myself and we shall continue in private, as this thread should have been. Don't argue with the ref in public, bad show.

For the sake of completeness, there was a post on here that was moved by another moderator not myself as it had also been reported.

Opinions are fine, we all have them and we have a load of moderators to hopefully make sure my opinion isn't louder than anyone elses.

Please discuss and debate, but don't abuse, insult or bully. I think that's what the forum rules say, if not that's what they should say :D
