Re: Can we run tuned engines in club FII
Sorry Tim!
Maybe split the oil containment issue as I think that's likely to be ongoing for a while?
As for the cheek, I'll follow Keith's advice and deal with Wal in my own way!

With regard to the TT, there's a meeting coming up in about 10 days to discuss this subject. Hopefully that will enlighten us all!

How pedantic can I be? Actually, it's oil containment on four strokes. If you wish to run a classic two stroke you'll hear no complaint from me!

Actually Wal, if you read the supplementary regs it states that you must have an oil containment system. Nothing is said about it being under the engine! So I could interpret that as meaning it needs to be where the oil is...Wal wrote:Yeah right Jo !!!! I’ll put the oil containment under the engine as per the ruleseven though there is knack-all oil in there !

I’ll not bother putting any under the dry sump oil tank which is where the oil actually is !!!

Eddy, I'm not sure about UK meetings, (no doubt somebody will tell us) but oil containment required for Pre TT classic races !
I'm sure Jo will fill in any other details !

Any Classics coming to the N.E.M.C.R.C. meeting in May will have to have oil containment at least under the engine , dry or wet sump. Thats from the ACU. If the idea is to get sidecars (classic) more meetings with modern classes they will have to comply with the rest of the event.

Hi Wal
Tell us about the problem with cleansing oil spills with the new fully synthetic oils
[trust wal to know about all things slippery]

Hi Dick
I take it that you are referring to the fact that when there is an oil spill, that isn’t the end of the problem.
With today’s modern fully synthetic oils, sand or cement powder are no longer good enough to do a proper ‘soak-up’ job.
The problem now is that many of the chemicals required to disperse synthetic oils, also ‘melts’ the road surface material, thus causing a potentially bigger problem.
