But if you don't mind, it's much better for forum traffic if we could carry on talking rubbish instead and listening to doubters

questions ?
1/ would a standard fuel injected motor run perfectly ok with standard ignition and loom ?
2/if yes, wouldnt this make the class affordable.
3/get rid of gizmos i,e, quick shifters.motec etc.
4/run road fuel only.
1. No not in a sidecar with the different exhaust and airbox
I'm guessing by the way

I propose we elect Bruce as technical consultant,
We can then all go home and watch TV.
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Bruce, You can ask the same question as many times as you like but the answer is still NO!
If someone had told you to take the flatslides off your Ireson Honda & put on bog standard carbs would you have agreed?
I'd guess the answer would have been NO as it would have run like an asthmatic gerbil.
I think the point Bruce was trying to make was the unnecessary spending of hard earned cash his Ireson would run perfectly well on standard carbs as it would with flatslides make less power maybe but that would not matter if everyone used the same as people have said it is the same old story in more ways than one
I often thought that rules should be similar to those used Formula Jedi it might have allowed more people to take part with a more level playing field
thankyou Paul, just trying to think of a clubmans class, lets face it for the money some people are throwing at sidecars there seems little improvement on lap times for the majority.
Kew,as for me becomming a technical official, think id rather watch tv !whats the point, banging head against brickwall, those with money will ??????
Andy iam that ashmatic gerbil !!!!!!!!

I'm sorry I don't agree. Standard carbs would have to be tweeked & jetted to get an outfit to run properly & even flatslides required setting up & jetting. This is what Kit ECU's, Motec,DTA 's etc give you,the ability to get the bike setup properly plus the added bonus of data logging for reliability. If you take them away it would be a HUGE backward step.
Also most kit ECU's or power commanders cost about the same as a set of flatslides & nobody wanted those banned did they?
As much as you want dependant on what you want it to do! We use a DTA system it does everything we need to run engine and some data logging the ecu costs £850 + vat a loom costs about £600 when we enquired about Kawasaki kit ecu and loom and data cable it would have cost more with no data logging. It must be pointed out that motec is only one make of ecu there are other alternatives. Hope this helps
the prices i can get ecu's this is with any upgrades needed to run a racing sidecar.
MoTeC 800 £3,480.18
DTA S80 £1,020
bosch MS 4 sport bike £2,311.32
magneti marelli SRT-EDL £2,400 (this was about a year ago, no current pricing to hand)
looms and sensors depends on how much you want to spend! but around £1,000
theses are the main Motorsport ecus, there are other cheaper options but they tend to be car based and cant cope with the high revs and fully sequential nature of modern 600's
The DTA then isn't much different to a set of flat slides, like Andy said then. Fair do.
