RARING TO GO wrote:So what are we doing wrong Simon ? in Europe at meetings such as Chimay and Gedinne, there are regularly in excess of 300 solos and 70 -80 sidecars, which I believe to be more than the average UK Classic Club meeting, but we all have good races (7 - 12 laps) and that doesn't include the Parades they manage to fit in = everybody happy. :D
I know there is a one hour time difference, but they only have the same number of hours in a day as we have in the uk  So what are we doing wrong ???
Advantage Mr Wal.[/quote]

? But I was agreeing with Wal ?

The answer is trying to run too many races.

I get enough of them at work without having them in my hobby aswell. Lets just enjoy our sport as it is still the best in the world but could be ruined by a bit of bickering.
Chick, there's very few problems within the club. You'll have a blast.

Don't worry about it, Den can't help it

But just one thing about my post Den, which seems to have been lost in the 'North/South translation  The point I am making is in conjunction with the European classes rather than just the number of races, and the effort made to embrace König/Konny in the GP class and post classic Sidecars, thus providing a higher level of interest/entertainment. Yes, the classic club do give two races a day, but I personally have never heard anybody complain about the amount of track time Sidecars have at the European meetings.

Den, I am Pro-Classic club, all I am saying is that, although I enjoy as Eddy said “it's just a healthy discussion to keep the mind active in these dark winter day's” , there is no need to be so aggressively against somebody trying to do something different 'within reason**'! After all, that was the whole essence of Sidecars ‘back in the day’ !
'Within reason**' we should be able to find a way to make everybody happy. (that does not mean stopping this thread before 20 pages  )

** = Ian's job

If you look at things in a different way. . .then the things you look at will become different ! :ugeek:
I don’t regret the things I did wrong, I do regret the things I did right. . .for the wrong people !

Look on the bright side Wal. One less crimbo card to send next year!.Bet Xmas was a ball at Den's full of festive cheer and merryment. It looks like the debate is still going to carry on in a friendly manner.
At least one ride in Belgium is better than none at the classic club.

Agreed. Look at any CRMC meeting and see how many real classic solos are racing, mostly just padding to give the few real classics a go. Potential space for more genuine classic sidecars? Just saying, not looking for a fight ;)

I think you are right Bob. There is a big push at the moment to push the 125 cut off date back to 1989. This is a 125 class that is already fighting to get two separate races, one for the MT's and one for the RS's (I know that isn't technically correct but it will do for now). The FZ600's and FJ1200's are getting more popular. The justification being that more members/races equates to lower entry fees. My personal view is that this is not a good thing.

I would much rather see more classic sidecars (including Konigs) at the meetings than newer solo's.

WTF? Cut off date 1989? Forgive my naivety but how the hell does that relate to 1969/72? Might as well throw the eligibility rule book out and 'run wot yer brung'

Sounds more like there should be an entire club for Post Classics, rather than various past masters and steel framed classes at different clubs.

And that, Steve, would seem to be one of the better ideas because it could give everyone an opportunity to race/ride. Could also help FSRA to concentrate on their core objective ;-) In the current climate I cannot see a new club happening with any chance of success, would possibly diminish existing grids detrimentally, but a nice thought nevertheless. There is of course the perennial question of where will the club admin come from, everyone wants to ride a bike not pilot a pen , computer and desk

I know. Mad eh?

Post classic 125 currently runs up to 1985. Above 125 is 1980. I think the Konig had a cert to run P4 this year which I believe has a 1980 cut off as well (is that right?). I understand that the main reason the club doesn't attract many P4 bikes is because of the tyre limitations. It's a shame because the Suzuki was great when it was out.

true Bob, and has nothing to do with OT ;) My apologies although after this many pages I'm not sure how much that matters any more :D

Bob's the classic mod, let him trawl through and split all the non topics to a different thread :D (good luck with the mixed posts ) maybe we'll leave it eh ;)

Whatever changes people are saying the CRMC need it seems they're fullfilling their own objective of having full grids, AND people wanting to go race with them, fair play.
