I agree the CR carbs dont look right on a BMW in fact they look totally out of place ( I think there was a bit of tit for tat ), but they also dont look nothing like the original CR's on the Honda either. I know because I had an original set of CR's on a Z1.

mike at mr equipe says let the triples in, no advantage as they weigh a ton,no problem, but have you tried to lift a CB750 lump makes a triple look light,a solution might be let 750 Honda`s in but ban the fancy carbs, probably shouldn't have said that, going for cover

Right party pooper time.....Before we all rush off with euphoric hysteria lets just take a look at the facts quietly and calmly. Firstly a big thanks has to go to various organisers our fantastic sponsors, Dave Gristwood, Mike Richards and Woods Cubed and to all the crews that support us every meeting, pay their money and race because that's what we love doing. Now because, and I hope there are not too many F2 guys reading this, we are the best supported sidecar grid in the U.K. at present John Davidson has now become accustomed to giving us extra races to cater for our swelling ranks; but in reality although I would love to see the 750's out on their own do you really see the C.R.M.C. stopping running some solo races to allow initially half a grid [at best] of 750 outfits, and if we have bolstered the 750's with people like Ian and Grant and Sean and Martin the P3 grid will only be just over half full as well - not a good sight . Now I'm not entirely sure how much a second ride is but would I go to all the expense of turning the Banshee into a 750 for a further four rides even if I could afford paying £350 a meeting and keep the two outfits running in top trim - I'd be bolloxed. Now no disrespect to Nick but he and several others on 998 Imps can't keep up with Jon or Terry now, so how exactly loosing 250 cc is going to help I'm not quite sure.....

So, in conclusion, although I admire and appreciate Steve and Byron's enthusiasm and input I'm not quite as enthusiastic as some of you people seem to be - throw the rules away and let's see what we end up with - it makes me nervous. I don't know how many 750 BSA or Nortons there are sitting in people's sheds but surely they would be more encouraged to come and play if we kept the class to twins and put a 500cc limit on the BMWs (ooh that's controversial).

Let's talk and discuss, which is great, but let's not mess up what we have and I'm always very wary of people who have outfits but don't ride them and say "well I would if this happened or that happened" - surely the joy of sidecar racing is the racing part - if you get a pot - great, but if pots become the priority that's a little sad.

Of course one positive step that could be easily taken would be if somebody like Steve or Byron joined the committee - there's a vote coming up at the AGM - and one extra sidecar vote on the committee would near double our votes at the moment! Well perhaps not nowadays but it would definitely help - just saying!

A very interesting proposal, and a very well thought out,and balanced response from Ian.
As I currently have a half finnished 750 commando in the garage(being built for the VMCC 750 series),I will watch with interest. One question, would a 750 Kettle be eligible? They were around in 1972.

No because the cut off for 2strokes accross the club is 1967. The 750 kettle engined outfit that currently races with the club was given special dispensation (and put in P4) as far as i'm aware for supporting the sidecar grid when things weren't so bright.

Indeed not Nick, the original version was 850cc followed by the Imp Sport at 1000cc. Quite a revolutionary car for its time and competitive on price with a comparable Mini.
