Re: Sidecar TT
Some one correct me if I'm wrong please. Paul Phillips is an employee of the Isle of Man government & the Isle of Man government is a political organization, why are interested parties on here trying to contact a politician / civil servant over the regulations for a road race.
The correct people to contact for information over regulations is the regulatory body which in this case is the ACU.
It is a dangerous situation if Politicians are getting involved with the regulations governing the sport.
The Isle of Man government may be the "Promoters " of the TT Races but they have no legal right to interfere with an established
class of racing. May be I've got it wrong & the ACU all of a sudden have gone all shy & are letting the Promoters speak for them?

Re: Sidecar TT
Mr Phillips is coming on the show!
Ian, you are of course right and I have contacted the ACU with as yet no response. I will also seek an interview with the FSRA for their thoughts on this totally retrograde step in the development of SideCar racing in Great Britain.
Would you like to come on the show and air your views on this subject? If so please email me at slowphil@bikerfm.co.uk

Re: Sidecar TT
Thanks for the offer Phil, the implications of Politicians / civil servants being involved with our sport are chilling.
I think you should try & get a certain Mr Roy Hanks to go on your show, given the fact that he is a Director of the ACU so he would have had an involvement & an input into any of the decisions. Also Mr Hanks being a F2 sidecar racer you would have thought he would have had an input here. But then , he does have a "conflict of interests "
This is tantamount to changing the the regulations governing a Sidecar class via the back door, exactly what they did when they banned the 1000cc twins from the F2 class. 350cc 2 strokes are eligible for the F2 class but they are not eligible now to race in the TT so the ACU / Isle of Man Government are creating a "New" sidecar Class without consultation.

Re: Sidecar TT
Why is it that Ian W always posts my thoughts before I can?
IMHO the ACU has abdicated most responsibility for racing by handing over that duty to Mr Phillips & Co, BSB etc etc ...

It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Re: Sidecar TT
Quite simple regs really,
Those that can afford it will ,those that can't wont,
The lap record will go if the weathers kind, less chance of replicas for those that deserve it,well spread out grid , with fast riders moaning about slower riders, etc,etc
Logic to me is restrict the formula before its well to late,
The F2 's at the TT were to replace the big class to reduce costs and safety, speeds are getting mad and safety should be paramount, god slower does not mean boring races, some of the 350 races at the TT have been fantastic spectacles , it won't be long before passengers are going to struggle on the faster machines, and you all know that some riders with mega deep pockets will turn up on really fast machines and have relitively inexperienced passengers, doesn't bare thinking about, perhaps I've been away to long !!!!
Rant over!

Re: Sidecar TT
Spot on Bruce!!
World motor sport is going away from out right power and towards more skill and better chassis, Including F1 SideCars. Why is the TT doing this?

Re: Sidecar TT
You will be able to find that answer Phil when you question Mr Phillips, I have a feeling he will pull out of your show at the last minute. Hell will freeze over before you get any answer from Roy Hanks.
Straight forward answer, it is either the ACU or the Isle of Man government wanting this change, either way it goes against the so called constitution of the ACU.

Ian, I think we are on the same page but dont be too quick to judge Mr Phillips. He says that he wont pull out and I think we should give him and anyone else who will come and talk to me a chance to speak their minds.

Re: Sidecar TT
Phil, if you do get a reply from the ACU, ask them for a copy of the minutes of the" Meeting of Directors" that are relevant to the decision to change the Sidecar TT regulations. They should be on the net but I can't find them?
