Ian
I seem to remember an earlier RGB that you were running at Aintree with fuel injection fitted. Have you got any pictures of that outfit?
Also I can confirm just how well engineered the lay down engine outfit was as I was competing at the Thundersprint a few years back when you were trying to start the bike on the rollers. I think the compression ratio must have been fairly high as it just wanted to jump off the rollers when you dropped the clutch. I know as I was sitting on the back trying to keep the wheel in contact with the rollers.

Hi Ian, yes I do remember your help at the Thundersprint :D
No I'm sorry I don't have any pics of the bike with the fuel injection fitted.
That time at Aintree was with the new chassis that Colin Jacobs built me with the same Puma engine but mounted upright.
The fuel injection was a constant feed mechanical system made by Hilborn Fuel Injection of the USA.
All the Top Fuel Dragsters run their systems to this day, they became available back in 1948.
The system used a mechanical fuel pump driven off the exhaust cam & worked via a series of relief valves & check valves with round jets in them, fool proof once set up. Rob Holden was over here racing solos & he had run a Hilborn system on a Ducati back in New Zealand & he helped me so much with my system, sadly, he was killed at the TT.
The ACU Technical Committee banned my system when they brought in a blanket ban on fuel injection in F2, bit ironic really as a few years later they allowed fuel injection in. There were two F2 racers on the Technical Committee back then!
