Do you think that means that any of the top 3 from the worlds from 2009 to present will enter even though they can't be champion and get prize money ???
steve-e wrote:So then it should be the RKB championship not British? Should the fastest Brit be British Champion ?
BSB - Troy Bayliss - Gregorio Lavilla - Ryuichi Kiyonari ??
AMA - Reg Pridmore - Miguel Duhamel - Mat Mladin ??
BSB - Troy Bayliss - Gregorio Lavilla - Not allowed to enter anymore as they have been top 3 in world champs before they won BSB title!! and no haga either

Sean was quite close to Tim in some races last season, if he wins by a big margin next season does that mean he will also be banned? :? :? :?
I can't believe that anyone can be classed as too fast to enter the premiere championship in the country. :? :? :?
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Many years ago I was spectating at a National meeting at Donington when Jock Taylor and Alain Michel appeared on the grid. They started them from the back of the grid(possibly with a handicap but I can't remember).I have never seen so much interest in a Sidecar race!
Perhaps that would be a better solution than just banning people. Mind you ,I believe there were still outfits with A65 motors in that race so probably a much bigger gap in performance than now.

Makes no sense to me. If the Series was a progression to the worlds then yes but the depth of field is better than at world level.

Perhaps this is a case of the organisers deciding they wish to harness the domestic talent and quash their ambition to cross over to the world series.
This would of course ensure the grids remain full or very close to in the future.
I find it odd and cannot concur this is a good idea.
It would be great to have some more knowledge about the situation.
Anyhow since 1957

Unless Sean does the Worlds then there will still be a very fast world level F1 at the front for the rest to try to keep up with. I don't think he'll have it all his own way either, the young un's are catching up. (And Peachy :D )

This thread is already dead in the water thanks to Smiffy, who has summed it up a treat. :notworthy: Is it right or wrong for the series? Only time will tell. Will it detract from the racing? Not a bit. I can certainly understand Tim's frustration not being able to try to retain the title and the fact that as a professional racer, quite a potential income has vanished.

The racing will still be excellent, as I've said before the racers doing it will still be racing the same people as they did last year, the spectators can't tell the difference between a 47 and a 47.5 second lap round Brands so won't be disappointed and will soon learn the names, you're only as good as the last race people saw you in.

Seriously disagree with that rule change. Perhaps limit the total purse any 1 team can take home (but don't do it retroactively, only going forward). But if a current/former world champion chooses to race your national series you should be honored. It may take a while for everyone else to catch up but eventually they will and you will have accelerated the development of all your national teams. Consider other measures that (really) limit team costs to help close the gap (or even something as silly as upping the previous champions minimum outfit weight by 5%, or maybe a handicap on their qualifying time).

I wonder if this applies to passengers also?

Does this mean Tony Brown will need to find another passenger??

EDIT: Nevermind, it specifically says Driver.

Its to create a spectacle and a show isn't it, the reason BSB sell tickets to spectators, and club racing doesn't. Ben, Jorg and Pekka were approached, with the offer of an incentive recently unheard of in sidecar racing recently to compete with Tim (who in fairness has supported the series from the off) to make the show....

If the others wont commit to the whole series, RKB may as well pay the £9k winning every round-prize money over and give the championship trophy to Tim tomorrow and everyone else could save a fortune not having to put on a show for a battle for 2nd - 10th in the championship.

Its Not RKB's Fault that the world championship is dire and its more profitable to stay in the UK, he is trying to create a marketable series to enthrall paying punters

No one is kicking up a fuss that they are ineligible to score points, or take the free entry offers to do BEMSEE sidecar championship, where the whole of the BSB F1 teams are excluded, its a similar situation?

As I have posted on Facebook, maybe some of the people who are so up in arms about this would like to ring RKB to offer to take running the series on and help him find the funding? otherwise I guess they could just keep insulting what is going on in public and maybe you could get RKB sufficiently disillusioned enough for him to pull the funding from the sport? im sure sure that would stop the griping? - if anyone who is moaning in public would like to contact the promoter directly i can furnish with contact details, send me a PM :)

Just one more thing, how can a club competition be classed the same as a National Championship.
