I've just seen this question on iomtt forum and I know not everyone here goes on there, so maybe someone here will know why it has it?

I was told, many years ago, that the 'K' was painted on the tree to draw attention to the 'emergent kerb'.

I thought that someone had painted my initial on it. :( :( :(
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

The "K" was there before 1985.

Dont know how long the K been there but my old man talked about THE kerb. Wouldnt like to hit it with the sidecar wheel. Keith it is a big kerb lol.

As Dicky understands it, a competitor painted it on the tree many years ago to remind himself where that kerb was and the other competitors found it so useful that it was just maintained. Originally just by competitors apparently, but now that it's a well known feature I'm not sure who keeps painting it.
